Hey everyone, i figured it was about time i posted a build thread of my car.

SPECS:

- 1983 ADM Levin
- Fresh rebuilt 4AC - soon to be bigport PENDING REGO!
- Adm T50
- 14x6.5 SSR star sharks (on loan from Hendo)
- Fresh respray in dupont - Mazda velocity red

- twinky wheel and knob with red copy recaros soon to be installed.

basically I bought this car as a shell of here in september 2010 and it looked like this.

It was nothing special at all with no motor or box, suspension or any brakes.. i had a massive job ahead of me.

next began all the body work And having just started my spray painting Apprenticeship what better way to learn.
I started by stripping the car right down to its bare essentials ( although to be honest there wasnt that much to strip LOL) ..... also i dont know how to resize pictures properly. it keeps saying remote file too large? i am resizing them on photobucket

Where it says "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" untick the box and you wont get that error

Hey guys I think I have worked out my photos so we will see how we go. Anyway I began the body work and let me say... that was a big process LOL i will attempt a pic dump now

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/5/6/0/6/306185.jpghttp://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/5/6/0/6/306186.jpg

The engine bay was already pretty stripped out so i didnt have much more work to do apart from
destroy the surface rust coming from behind the booster.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/5/6/0/6/306187.jpg

I took my guards to trade school and got marked off for Dent repair and Priming a Panel :D

So uhhh Heres me about 18months ago hahaha

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/5/6/0/6/306192.jpg

I scored a set of head lights off Leo (rthy) and a zenki lip off Nam (LEVIN86) so i just dummied them up because i was bored.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/5/6/0/6/306193.jpg

I took my car to work, where it stayed for the next month.. i spent everyday rubbing it down and getting it straight.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/5/6/0/6/306194.jpg

Just so I could hi-fill it and rub it all down again.

I had recently done my first Respray (Nams car) and as part of payment i scored a 4AC.. it was a bit tired so my dad decided we may aswell rebuild it... so we did. I painted my engine bay in Mazda 3 Velocity red, it's a 3 layer pearl and looks badass in the sun

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/5/6/0/6/306196.jpg

well the car was all primed up and engine bay painted so it was time to throw some colour around... and thats just what i did

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/5/6/0/6/306197.jpg

I TOLD YOU IT WAS RED!!

At the same time i also did this.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/5/6/0/6/306198.jpg

The bonus of this was I got to paint at work... on a monday morning.... for FREE!

Anyways then I got the Spoontah towed home And started to put it together.
Dad and I spent forever on my mechanicals. getting all new hoses. A/C, new whiteline bushes throughout the whole car. we went all out. We were aiming for this to be my new daily so we want it to be comfy but still handle awesomely.

all this got my seal of approval

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/5/6/0/6/306199.jpg

This January just past I went to NZ for a week. when i left my car still wasnt running and i had no brakes.
halfway through my trip I got a call from my dad. when I answered all I heard was "Hi Dan" followed by the sound of my AE86 start and run for the first time. It Turns out Dad wanted to put his Landcruiser in the garage so he got my car running just so he could get it out of the shed.

Needless to say when I got home I was ecstatic. over the next few weekend i went balls out to put it all back together. I even managed to get my girlfriend at the time to buy me a brand new windscreen XD. A few weekends later the car looked like this. ( I hadn't installed the windscreen yet)

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/5/6/0/6/306200.jpg

I had also sprayed my bars/lip and all moulds black

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/5/6/0/6/306201.jpg

The brakes hadn't been bled yet and it had no windscreen or Exhaust... but believe me.. it drives :P

I have to get my car roadworthy so in the mean time i have borrowed some bits and pieces off various people the most obvious things are the SSR star sharks that measure in at 14x65 and +2, +10 respectively to quickly summarize this build which I will go into more detail about over time here it the cars most recent photo at the recent Forum Battle at Calder park

Massive thanks to Geoff for the parts and Chris for converting my struts and setting everything up. These guys were really helpful and friendly throughout the whole process. Thanks again guys :)
