ok below is the results of my fairly new clutch, keeping in mind it gets driven like once a week atm this is a very dramatic ending.

that there is a 4 puck ceramic from a tarago they dont make any better than that bar a solid plate ie un sprung. i used this so as to fit the W58 input and still fit under the 4age basket.

clearly this didnt work so wtf should i be using, anyone else running a W box wanna shed some light?

Treat the clutch better?

Failing that, I have seen OS Giken ones which are pretty nutso.

I just had a clutch built by NPC. Uses a 4G63 pressure plate, sprung 4 puck centre with a billet flywheel. Apparently its pretty indestructible. Im still running T50 but the splines will be changed when a W box goes in.
I guess twin plate would be the other option.

I hope that it's just bad luck or maybe manufacturing fault that caused that. I ran a very similar looking clutch (spring centre 4 puck, though it did only have 4 rather than 6 springs) between a 4AGZE and W58 for a couple of years. It copped a flogging and when I eventually took it out I noticed it had banged away about half of each of the spring retaining pins (You can see the end of three of them in your pic).

So I went to solid centre after that, and really haven't noticed much of a difference. Maybe a bit more shudder on takeup, but I'm not the pickiest driver.

212mm or 200mm

I used a lancruiser clutch plate, spines had to be enlarged a slight bit but its 200mm, was like $58 too

lol, it had only been used for dyno tuning and a few spirited drives so nothing hard core. i had hoped to have an off the shelf item to install in my set up, but i have had the remains sent back to where i got it from (from thrust bearing to flywheel) and they are going put some thing together for me, atm they think its a faulty part so it wont cost me anything... just hope whatever they do it holds up.

Woah Mike's back.......... sounds like you still got the 86 which is awesome to hear ....

slightly on/off topic, I'm running a W55 with a excedy heavy duty plate (it came with the g/box when I bought it and had the spline changed already)
I went down to NPC yesterday to see Doug and talk about getting my pressure plate rebuilt or getting a new one made up.... This is the part that surprised me though, as I wanted the same heavy pedal feel as my old pressure plate and he reckons he can only do new ones now with stock clutch feel (obviously high clamp pressure though) Wtf?, so my only option was to get my old plate refreshed, pretty weird I thought... As I find it off putting having a soft pedal feel with a HD clutch..

On a side note I ran a valeo 4 puck sprung button plate previously in front of a few T50's, never had any issues with the clutch itself but when I took it all out to do the W conversion the plate was missing some large chunks off a few of the pads... near the end of its life me thinks..;)

I am using a simular setup.. 1.5ton pressure plate 6 puk with sprung center
NPC clutches... spline to suit w58 input and size to fit the 212mm 225mm flywheels

extream and excedy are shit clutches do not buy ! i have destroyed a few with ease and they have nothing to say about it... one of them only lasted 20 minutes and then its replacement lasted about 4 track days,
they were told what the car was being used for and that it never gets driven on the street.. but still supply crap,

its worth the money to get jim berry race clutch to build you a good carbon 4/5 puck single plate, there nice to drive with and wont slip

and id recomend staying away from sprung centres

Its for street use obviously so drivability is needed my clutch is good for 250kw with the added comfort of sprung center button setup.

brand new excedy that was a replacement for another new excedy that lasted 20 minutes (just slipped anything over 3/4 throttle)

im sure kieran still has pics of his extream clutch, also his excedy has started to shear off the big pins in the hub too

exedy clutches are awesome. ive fitted a fair few over the last few years and have yet to see one fail. im not talking pansy ass street driven cars with stock specs either. and most those drivers kill their cars.
however i will agree that extreme clutches are shit. ive fitted three and they all were slipping within a couple of days. i know zaffinos one didnt even last a night

sprung centres are good but id only recommend them for n/a cars or street cars
