Greetings to all!
I need help of the experienced 4A-GE builders.
My story...
Arriving at the miniDH event in the nearby town of Krivoy Rog I accidentally found and bought for only $250 stripped down and not a complete 4A-GE.

For my track-day project http://ae70.blogspot.com/
My plans for the motor are as follows:
* Reliability consisting of low-cost OEM parts;
* Horizontal carbs. (Weber or Dellorto);
* MSD ignition;
* and so on.
My questions at this stage consists in the following:
A. What kind of pistons were in it?

http://m.io.ua/img_aa/medium/2139/81/21398190.jpg
B. With piston size - 81.65 mm and diameter of the cylinder - 82.10 mm pistons what new I need to get?

Does it make sense to build the engine on this block?
Or is it better find a new 4A block?
I would be very grateful and appreciate any advice.

if the condition of the bores are ok then you could fit some different 82mm pistons. Those pistons you have there are not 4age, infact I have no idea what they are but they would give you a very low compression ratio

i think they are 7afe pistons which means the rods would be too long as well

Some of my friends suggested that this piston from WV or Audi, because they have a 22m diameter of piston pin, and the cranks with pins are installed from 4AGE with transition bushings. This can be seen in the photo.

No, rods are from 4AGE, because I have more of the 4AGE rods and they are identical with these.

Weird. 7a is 81mm bore. That piston is 81.65, which would suggest it's been bored at least once. but the 82.1 mm bore is far too big to put in a cast or hypereutectic 82mm piston, that's 4 thou of piston to bore clearance assuming piston is exactly 82mm. A 2618 forged piston would be ok though but it drives up cost.

it's probably a standard 82mm bore measured with that crappy vernier caliper

Probably so.
What do you say about this cylinder block?
Does it makes sense to work with it and buy these pistons for example:
1. http://www.ebay.com/itm/280823351328?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649
2. http://www.ebay.com/itm/280803882873?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649
Because they offer a repair size of 0.040 "

get your self a decent set of T guages and micrometre's, ele veniers i HAD, read different readings none stop, took 4 measurements in the same place 4 different readings(not overly close either)

I don't know how much clearence there is meant to be from the pistons to bore, you will have to check that. However if the bore isn't too large that would seem like the right buy

not only that but you should be measuring the bore from left to right instead of front to back.
the thrust side is where you will get the most wear.
but honestly i wouldnt stuff around. you need new pistons anyway so get the bore honed out so its .010" oversize and get some new pistons to suit.
do it once. do it right.

My next question is OIL PAN.
How to increase it's capacity and do it right???
