Number 6 EX Rally school car ---SOLD

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH IT ??????????????
Not sure yet , but she still has good life left in her as a dirt race car , needs bit of TLC and an engine transplant ( found a healthy small port 4age with loom ,ECU and all plug ins very cheap while in Melb , so that may go in with a locked t series rear. Plenty of time to puzzle on what to do .

Lol nice collection, but i have to say They aren't dogs that need saving from the pound...

It does feel that way sometimes though hey, but it is good to see someone fixing them up rather than pulling them apart and crushing them

Time for 1st update on No 5 Roadie rebuild . Car dissembled , etch primed and a start on stripping , cleaning and rebuilding front end and rear ends . No more painting till the weather is warmer ( Canberra is a bugger to work on cars mid winter )

Time for an update , been busy doing nothing , but got some jam on her --- rear ends in ---- front member and suspension in --- brakes up and working . So at least I am at a point of assembly not disassembly. Here are a few pics .

Also could not pass up this barn find a couple of months back . It is a KE15 1969 Sprinter , not quite a AE86 , but you can see where the classic lines of the AE86 came from. This will have to wait till I finish the 86 and I can restore the bank balance before I can start her. Just collect bits and plan ahead . It will need a bit of rust repair , full body strip and paint and rebuild to period goodness and put on Historic Rego.

A bit more progress with the roadie AE86.

While taking out the front windscreen and preparing the metal area in front of the dash pad --- a small bit of rust was found and also the plastic demist vents where found to just crumble to dust upon being touched. So as I am refitting a mint dash, then it is worth a bit more work to make it all look and function properly .So out came the lot , a new plastic vent pod was found , the rust repaired and a bit of paint splashed on.

It all looked ok when I 1st got the car !
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/2/8/8/507964.jpg (http://s1104.photobucket.com/user/AE86SPRINTER/media/KATYS%20AE86/IMG_20110421_1331411-2.jpg.html)

So we did this ................

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/2/8/8/507965.jpg (http://s1104.photobucket.com/user/AE86SPRINTER/media/KATYS%20AE86/IMG_4010_zps4c5d59d1.jpg.html)

And now it , looks like this , a bit more to do but we are getting there !!!!
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/2/8/8/507966.jpg (http://s1104.photobucket.com/user/AE86SPRINTER/media/KATYS%20AE86/IMG_4027_zps0a6730cd.jpg.html)

The other major advantage to this extra work is that all the heater and blower vents have been resealed , so demister , blower and heater should work like new . I have owned a few 30+ year old cars in the past and even though to fan has run fine , the demist , vent and heater have been a bit average in function due to the various seals being in poor condition , so hopefully that is all fixed with this car.

Also the engine re assembly is coming on well and the t50 has all new bearings and seals and is ready to install.

Sorry Slide86 --- NOT FOR SALE -- ae86,s are great and are uncommon on the road . But KE15 Sprinter,s are RARE & COOL . I started out in Motorsport ( way back ) with a KE10's , 11's Ke20,s then on to Celica,s T-18 etc etc . I have always wanted a roadie KE15 and this one is my turn to make it happen. If you want one they are out there , but you will have to look hard and far ( Found mine in a paddock in a nearby town ). Mind you if you think parts for AE86 are $$$$ and hard to get , KE15's bring a whole new meaning to the term.

slide86
13th May 2013, 04:53 PM
Yeah I knew you would say that.

Ive been looking for a good 12 months now.

Im not concerned with the $$$ thats not an issue. My old man used to have one from new, he sold it way way back before I was even a consideration. How I wish he had kept it parked up somewhere.

AIROCOBRA
13th May 2013, 06:16 PM
Yeah we have all owned cars in the past , enjoyed them , got bored , sold them and now wish we hadn't ( cos we miss them or they are now worth lots ). Been a few KE15 unrestored , but in good nick for there age on the east coast . Prices usually above 10k thou. This resto is about the enjoyment of doing it and then owning and driving it , not about the money , sounds like your aim is much the same . If I see anything out side the normal advertisements I will let you know.

slide86
13th May 2013, 07:20 PM
Yeah cheers, If I buy one it will go in the shed never to be sold on. Much like my AE86 now.

Your standard of builds has been very good, the latest will be an ideal streeter.

AIROCOBRA
13th May 2013, 10:58 PM
Both the roadie AE86 and KE15 are going to be Historic rego , so no wild preformance mods , just a few peroid extras . That way I can afford to have both as drivable weekend cars and keep and enjoy for some time to come. Will keep the track AE86 so I can have a bit of stress release every know and then , but the ex Rally school AE86 may have to go in a while after some mods and dirt fun is had. As for the spare primed 86 rolling shell ( every one need one of those just in case ).

And i thought i loved 86s...

good to see someone giving the cars the attention they deserve, rather then letting them rot in a paddock

theres a ta22 rotting in a paddock near me, i might see how much he wants for it...

BIT MORE DONE ------ Engine ready to go in , after I finnish the wiring ( hate wiring ) still got to buy a new clutch .

Engine is no fire breather ---- stock 4AGEZE bottom ( blue printed and balanced ) with new every thing , TVIS Big port head ( REBUILT ) std injection . all the ancillaries are new , even the alternator ( 130amp from USA ) .Was going to put ac back on but , I think I might leave it off for now , may re -install later. Just want a nice reliable streeter that the missus can drive and do motorkhana and skid-pan days in. Just a weekend car on historic rego.

JDM tank cleaned , new pump fitted ( soon as it is not -1 in the shed , will install )

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/2/8/8/537241.jpg (http://s1104.photobucket.com/user/AE86SPRINTER/media/KATYS%20AE86/IMG_4048_zps0eb15941.jpg.html)

And a nice GT APEX interior with mint dash , cleaned and ready to install

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/2/8/8/537242.jpg (http://s1104.photobucket.com/user/AE86SPRINTER/media/KATYS%20AE86/IMG_4070_zps9827fa4a.jpg.html)

Biggest drama I have is every time I save a bit of cash to buy stuff to finish the AE86 , I finD rare bits for the Ke 15 Sprinter AND TA22 CELICA. Cause if you think stuff is hard to find and $$$$$ for 86's then you do not want to re-build a Ke 15 , the stuff is very hard to finD and when you do , you can expect to have to fight hard for it . But lets face it finding and buying the stuff for your PROJECT is half the FUN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A 3KB set up , are't they fansastic -- @$%%&*

Joel , you are 100% right , officially they are known as down draft carbs , but the last time I used these type of carbies was in my early rally days in KE10 corollas . Back in those days I spent so much time hanging upside down on my roof in some paddock , that they did in fact become up drift carbs , well until the the fuel bowl became empty. ARRH ! Those where the days !!!

Well, I've read a bit,and I now know why these 2TB carbs are somewhat unknown and rareish.....
From what I've read, they are uncommon because they were terrible and people threw them in the bin... ;) ;);)

Perfect for your "blow-job-less" sillycar.......
