I'm looking at getting some 15 x 8 -13 rims and I'm unsure of what tyre would be best to go with? From what I've seen majority of people use a 195/50/15 right?

I'm wanting to try and flare as little as possible on the car if I can, would having the smaller 185 help a fair bit or not much..? And are 185's readily available like 195's?
Car specs as follows.

ke70 - Standard guards

Front - XT130 LCA's, 86 struts, t3 camber tops

Rear - Roughly 5-10mm wider (hilux diff uncut)

Any help much appreciated :D

you will need to flare no matter what..

185/55 you reckon? Would they be pretty easy to get on? And yeh I know I'm gonna need a flare no matter what, just hoping I don't have to go overboard with it.

I just came across this site while searching on here which is pretty helpful. http://www.tyrestretch.com/

After using this site to calculate how much the rims would sit out this is roughly what I got.
http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

And after some rough measuring and stuffing around with some cardboard this is how far out the new rims should sit out for anyone interested.

The wheels on there now were just used for measuring, they are 15 x 6.5 +35

So it looks like it will need a fair bit of flaring to me:shocked:

Haha yeh probably a good point, just wanting to know if it's worth going 185's to get away with less flaring? Or will there not be much difference?

195/50

They are common, everywhere and hence cheap.

You'll need to flare regardless.

Ok after a lot of stuffing around the wheels I was hoping for might not be avilable, but some similar are readily available but they are a little different in size.

They are 15 x 7 -6 offset, any recommendations for tyre sizes?
And from using that offset calculator the outside edge of the rim would sit about 20mm further in than the previous stated wheels.

I'm guessing that will still need a bit of flaring but nowhere near as much as before right?

195/50/15 is good tyre, but i would go a 205 if i had a sr that packing as much heat as yours

15 x 7 -6 should sit flush but you will still need abit of a flare for no rubbing

Haha yeh I'm just trying to get a bit more of a stretched look if possible aswell, not overly worried about the amount of grip on the rear they will give.

You really think they will sit flush with the guards? My rears have been rolled already too.

iv got 14x7 -10 on my 72 with xt130 struts and lca's and had to flare the fronts but got away with a heavy roll on the rears.

simple.

(not counting the quality of the tyre)

width=grip, so get the widest tyres you can. i would be looking at some nice wide 15's in a higher offset. that is if you dont want to flare and dont have your car on its ass.

your doing things to a corolla that was never meant to be done. so expect to have to customise things to fit. if you want big wheels you need flares. if you dont want flares then you have to run high offset rims and possibly bash in the wheel wells for clearance.

Pic of my 15 x 8 -10 With fairly polled guards, didn't scrub unless you hit a pot hole or something.

15x7-6 wont fit with a 195/50

If you want the 'stretch look' (fuck i hate people saying that haha) get some wider wheels!

I'm guessing that's on the front of an 86 by looking at the pic?

Basically this is what I'm after. I don't mind flaring the guards by folding the "straight edge" outwards, but I'm not looking to do anymore than that if that makes sense?
Right now I'm considering going 15 x 8 -13 rears and 15 x 7 -6 on the front as long as I can get the wheels I'm after in that size.

But I've got pretty much all the info I need (I think) so now I'll just have to play around on the car to workout what's going to fit best for me.

Thanks for all the help, but if anyone has anymore pics with these sizes on a ke then feel free to post them up :)

My setup, 15x7.5 -8 up front with corona lcas, cusco tops maxed out negative. 195/50 RE001s. Rears are 15x8 -4 185/55 Hankooks.

My fronts are 8.4mm more aggressive than your desired sizes. Your rears will be 9mm more aggressive. I think that'll be alright if you're running 185/55s of same brand. It'll rub on large bumps though.

he mate i have 16 x 8 + 10 with a 25mm bolton. Fit with no scrubbing and complete suspension strocke with just a rolled flat edge and a liberal amount of hammering.
