hay what do i set my torque wrench at to tighten my flywheel on my 20v 4AGE silvertop

yeah dude as tight as the bolt will allow before you snap something, but good luck snapping something before you pull a muscle..anyways after all these clutch and flywheel changes on stock motors that sees 7500 very often, super hand tight has worked enough so tight as tight and you'll be alright.

I have never looked it up for a 4age, but cars at work (VW) are 90nm+90 degrees with loctite from memory.
That's what I did to mine 2 years ago and it hasn't come off, touch wood, but I didn't use loctite as I didn't have any.

totally irrelevant but CA18 is 98-108Nm/72-80lb.ft
Also, overtightening is better than undertightening.

The flywheel bolt torque for a 4age 20v bt is 75nm's.
I presume the tension would be the same for bt and st
And thats straight out of the toyota workshop manual

double hex 14mm's???????, and i remember them being that as 9/16th rounds them(my 14mm is covered in weld)

no need to go to town, over tightening fails IMO... the torque setting is specified for a reason. if the bolts are coming undone, your doing something wrong.
Use a hi strength thread locker... you can usually get low, med and hi strength.
Torque to factory spec or as per instructions and torque in the correct pattern.
would advise applying torque in 1/3'ds.
eg, final value 60nm, start with 20, then 40, then 60.
if using arp gear, and dont have the spec sheet...

Some flywheels you can just tighten them without torquing them others you can damage the flywheel but majority are fine to just do FT.

Y'all still refer to bolts by head size? it's an m10x1.25 bolt.
then, if you can't find the torque setting, you can get an idea of how much torque to apply by looking it up.

Yea wtf with some of the replies in this thread, dont do them up any tighter than recommended specs, over tightening also have a negative effect

Woops, I was thinking of the 12mm clutch pressureplate to flywheel bolts.

ARP flywheel bolts for toyota are the devil. they are more prone to snapping. just buy toyota genuine.

Arp fly bolts are not the correct length, hence the issues.

Yeah 4a and jzs have this issue, they are a fraction too long and seem to just.bottom out.
I have tacked the fuckers in place, but sooner or later you end up with some vibration, or the whole lot trying to come away. Jzs.are really bad for it once you turn them up

Yeah I supppse you could, Id rather just not use the arp stuff, its just trying to get back on tue track is where the welding the fyckers in cam from hahha.
Having said that, i think euther the suby or SR ones will work better as they are shorter, just cant remember which one has the same thread....

Heaps of people run them guys, just keep an eye out for any clutch vibration/shudder.

You actually welded them in place lol
I've run them on both my 2j and 1j for a good while now with no issue
Unlike the 4a crank the 2j/1j crank bolt holes aren’t blind, they pass all the way through, and even though the bolts are a bit longer, I cant see how they could bottom out.

Well I dont know why it happens, but they dont want to stay in there. Standard items, work fine, why not arp? As I have said many guys use them with no issue, but there are those that do.
