Bride replica seats... Thoughts..

Hey guys just thought id get some other comments and thoughts with these bride copy seats going around on ebay. From the photos the seem to look pretty good, but my main concern is the safety factor. I have had a bit of a google it haven't really had any steady feedback. I am thinking about buying a pair of these recliners...

I know they are obviously not as safe as the read deal, but how unsafe are they realy. Or wil they be fine to use. They will be going into to a daily. Any advise from ppl with first hand experience will be awsome as there is a lot of talk from others just going by what they have heard.

Is it worth it, or just a waste of time and money??

I wouldn't buy one unless it was FIA or ADR approved. Even then, replicas will never have the same quality and don't help the industry.

I have a friend who has a set of fake Recaros and they quite flimsy. I have serious doubts about their ability to hold up in an accident.

Are FIA approved seats able to get engineered and do i need seats that recline in my ae86 even if its registered as a two seater?

depending on the manufacturer, I dont think copy seats are necessarily any weaker than an genuine one.

I dont recommend buying them, but if they are a good copy, there shouldnt be any issues.

Bride seats arent ADR approved though, I havent figured out why though. I have a feeling that even genuine ones wouldnt pass the ADR testing, otherwise someone would have done it already. Feel free to correct me if anyon has some real information..

FYI, to meet ADR 3 testing requirements the seat would need at least the following tested;
-20G seat mass through the COG of the seat, applied forwards
-20G seat mass through the COG of the seat, applied rearwards
-energy dissipation of the headrest
-53daNm applied to the backrest
-37.3 daNm on the headrest and backrest, then 89daNm to test performance of the headrest
-headrest height, width and location will need to be in accordance with the ADR

Then seatbelt fitment and geometry would need to be tested according to ADR 4.

If the seatbelt anchorages are located on the body (like an ae86), changing the seat wont have any effect on the seatbelt anchorages and the seatbelt load wont need to be tested.

If you think youd feel safe in it meeting all these requirements, go for it.
