As you may have guessed it was home built by a guy who lives not far from Winton. He started in a 20V sprinter, then must have decided it didn't have enough power.
If you want to get in touch you can try him on Facebook here (https://www.facebook.com/brendan.mulcahy.56/info).

Just want to see how they've gone about getting the drivers side pipes past the steering colomn and starter motor..

The starter motor needs to be relocated to the passenger side due to hitting the shaft. There is quite a lot of room here tho you will be surprised!

Castlehill rod shop sell the starter relocation kits, very exy for what they are.. I used one on a vk that got a ls2 installed into it.

Couldn't find the Castlehill one.. There is a differnt kit to do the same thing on ebay.. $1100.. LOOOOOOOL..
think I'd rather save some extra cash and go reverse starter and Jerico/g-force box..
Or just get creative an cut and weld..

Don't be shy and just chaff it back through the firewall a little bit...plenty of clearance then:yeah:

Its not fitting the engine that I'm concernd about.. its trying to get hald descent headers down the drivers side past the steering colomn..
This is how my car sits currently.. Except it has less firewall than in this pic.. ;)

dangdang..
Any more pictures.??
You going to convert to rear sump.?
Thats roughly about where I think my engine will end up.
You almost need to convert to the center shift possition with the box where it is... :)

are you putting the new chassis rails inside the car instead of below it red?
--Redwork--
23rd October 2012, 06:49 PM
Yeah.. In line with the sills so it can be one the ground.
Stupid stock rails hang down like 40mm.. and there's stuff all room for exhaust either with stock floor pan..
Also changing to a 3 link rear suspension..

Damn it, was keen on getting stuck into an ls1 conversion into my ae71 until i read this thread.. I seen an ls1 s13 and the headers they had seemed to fit around the outside of their steering shaft..
I was hoping there was some model of header that would clear the shaft..
And also, where does the shifter end up if you sit the engine back as far as those pictures, if that is the original handbrake location, I'd say that wouldnt be too uncomfortable and could just run a hydro.

You can get a center shift setup for T68 so the level comes out alot farther forward. Where the other inspection plate bolts on with the 4 bolts in the picture..

Yeah I'd read about that stuff somewhere, also isn't it a t56? Lol. The tremec 6 speed?
And is dang saying that moving the engine back into the firewall fixes the interference problem with the starter? I have no problem with that, you'd definitely need to rebuild the trans tunnel anyway fitting that box under the car.

LOL.. yeah t56.. no Idea how I typed t68...
Not sure what Dang was implying.. he needs to POST MORE PICTURES.. :)

So umm. I own an ls1 + t56.. Looking at cutting my trans tunnel today and still don't know whether moving the engine back that much will clear the starter.. Don't see the point in creating that much work for yourself if it still isn't going to clear..
