Hey guys and gals

I have just transferred my smallport from one car to another, both ae71's
When i swapped them over i wired them exactly to how it previously was.

The issue is that there is no spark coming from the coil
I'm getting power to everything besides the BATT(may be b+ i forget) diagnostic pin on the diagnostic box which is supposed to have 12v's to it.
The coil is getting the 12v ignition feed but when i crank it the ground is supposed to trigger on and off to complete the loop in the coil. But i am getting nothing on the negative side of the coil plug. My understanding is that it gets this ground feed from the igniter module. Anyone now how to check the module?

The ECU may be bugged but can not see how as i carefully unplugged it, stored it and then re-plugged it in
Also the engine check light from the ECU is working :S

Any of you guys/gals had this problem before?
Where would you guys go next?

I'm having the exact same problem.

Check list:

Igniter has 12V and is earthed (either bolted to body or a nice 15amp wire from the igniter body to car body is sufficient)?
Engine is earthed sufficiently?
Engine loom is earthed using the bolting point on the inlet manifold below fuel rail?
Dizzy plug or wires for dizzy plug not damaged?

Should eliminate this stuff first.

Hopefully one of us can figure this out soon and help the other one out :)

I'm really bad with posting what i have done sorry
All of the checklist above has been checked so many times its ridiculous but...
i only have a 12v feed to the center wire black/yellow wire i think :S I'm colored blind lol
Is there supposed to be another wire with voltage constantly or something?

Also i have checked the earth pins at the ECU and they are ok

Still having no luck

Its almost sending me crazy

Fuel pump is getting the ground signal sent to it so i dont think t could be the ECU
also the TPS and other alike itmes are getting the five volt feed as they should be

Please help me guys

Check for engine codes using the diag procedure....

Inspect the dizzy plug visuallly
Measure voltage on the injectors, at the coil and ignitor.

I got mine going!

Make sure your coil, dizzy and igniter have continuity to the right places.

Also make sure your dizzy cap and rotor are in good condition. Mine were buggered when I got the engine.

I found the problem, well sort of

Thanks for the suggestions and help guys

I carried out all of those checks and all of that was fine

So the problem is within the dizzy! Not sure how but this kind of stuff just happens lol

I had a guy come around and
What we did was pull the dizzy out and when you spin it, it would throw a decent spark and the injectors would pulse but not with a consistency glow through the injected testeros would give a high glow and a low glow on and off
But as soon as the dizzy was put back into place and the motor was turning over it wouldn't give a spark or injector pulse
We're assuming its a problem with the CAS inside the dizzy itself or an earthing problem

I'll try replacing the dizzy and see how that goes

Has anyone had this problem or have any ideas to check anything

Also if you have a smallport 4 pin dizzy to lend or sell please let me know

I feel like a proper idiot but...

IT'S FIXED

Feeling kind of embarised just writing this
The problem was I hooked up the 12v ignition feed wires to the ECU via the radio 12v feed so when I was cranking the motor it was cutting that 12v feed as it is meant to
After relocating the wires she sparked perfect :)
