This is when i got it, rocking a 3a/k50 combo. That lasted all of a week before i ripped it out to chuck a 4age in from my mates panel van.

Stayed like this for quite a while as work kind of took over, but a few weeks ago a drift day came up on the 15th of december so got stuck back in to get it running. Got it turning over the other weekend but had no spark. This weekend we will have another shot at it and hopefully have it running.
The other day got some lowering springs and cut a few coils off to level it out a bit.
Before.

After

And thats where its at now. It will stay like this for the drift day, afterwards i will get stuck in improving a lot of things. Suspension, wheels etc.
Thanks for looking.

Did Australia not get the full window versions?

14th November 2012, 05:15 PM
Not as far as i know, Not the two big windows on each side. From what I've seen the panos we got either have, no glass, big window only on the farthest rear. Small window only on the farthest rear. And I hav seen both panels have small windows either side. If u can source cheap front windows let me know lol

So stocked it runs. Ignore the mess of wires, its tidied up now.
Got a few more things to do before the drift day on Saturday.

So, Saturday was Hori Dori.
After a ʞ©$ɟ around with getting a trailer ended up being quite late but that was sweet.
Found out i can't drive for shit, but will hopefully improve with more practice.
And the car handles like shit. Sooooo much axel tramp, but that was expected as i havent done anything to the rear suspension.
Couldn't hold a drift for more than a few seconds as the car just straightened out. Needs a shit load of work before the next drift day but i am picking up some reset leaves next week off this car
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/6/4/6/5/410446.jpg
Although car didn't handle well and my driving is sub average, still had a blast and can't wait to get out there again after i have sorted a few things.

Guards are pretty rubbish condition, but i didn't pay a lot for them so can't complain.
Going to be buying a weld in coilover kit so suspension should be sorted by the next drift day.

Excuse the photos taken from Mr Potato Camera

Finally got a moment at work to get grinder happy
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/6/4/6/5/503730.jpg
Todd will be welding the mounts on to suit my car, and i will probably have to get it shortened, as its 150mm wider than standard. And redrill the axels.
On a sad note, after a quick measure, i dont think my MK3s will fit over the brakes http://oldschool.co.nz/2011/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.png but will wait and see when they get here.

Peace.

After a shit start to the day with trailer problems and a few other things, got down to Meremere for a drift day. Spent a few hours and with a lot of help from a few people, got it running right at around 2 30. The new leaf springs have helped heaps but there is still a little bit of axel tramp at times, although i can now throw it round and it will drift/ swing os, a lot easier. Need to get more confident with my driving and do a few more things to the car, but i am a happy man.
Also i hit the wall, but its only cosmetic so not bothered/will leave as is.

Picked up my wheels yesterday

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/6/4/6/5/506214.jpg
But couldn't bolt them on because my studs aren't long enough as you can see
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/6/4/6/5/506215.jpg
Would i need longer studs or different types of wheel nuts? As there is a bit of room around the stud, just doesnt stick out far enough for my current nuts, which are quite thick

You need some wheel nuts like this, used on most toyota alloys

Was working late the night before putting the knuckles and LCAs out of Todds Te71 into this, and had to do an alignment when i got to Mere Mere, but that was all good.
Borrowed a pair of A3As from a mate and spent the rest of the day trying out the new knuckles and trying to get my confidence up a bit, still need to work on that haha.
There was a little bit of carnage though, with the castle nut that holds the knuckle onto the LCA somehow snapping the split pin and unwinding itself, causing an embarrassing drive back to the pits. Then after that was fixed, the next run i snapped an axel which ended my day. And while loading it onto the trailer, spotted some coolant at the bottom of the radiator, which i traced back to a hole in the radiator, unsure how it got there but will have to get a new one now.
All in all a good day, with a fair few improvements to the car planned now.

Pulled the standard 4age out a few weeks ago and will be putting my other one in.
Also pulled the front end off today to start fitting my quad headlight set up.http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/6/4/6/5/508857.jpg (http://s1129.photobucket.com/user/driftouteast/media/photo21_zps28c82699.jpg.html)
Will be taking everything out of the engine bay to paint it and fix some rust spots ive found.
Also decided to make a new stainless intake manifold for a bit of shits and giggles, anyone have the dimensions for the intake side of the head on a small port 4age?

Well well well, been a while.
TBH, have spent the last 6 months or so just collecting parts and not doing a hell of a lot to the actual car.
However, now that I have most of the bits, it will be going back together over the next couple of months, and hopefully have it running by April.
A few teaser pics of whats to come.
8kg springs, Ae86 brakes and will buy some adjustable camber plates

Make sure you use a nice bead of sealant and torque 'em all up evenly. Good fun :)

beachlander
24th February 2014, 04:19 PM
Yea have been recommended some good sealant to use.
Anyone know if high tensile stainless bolts will be ok to use?

That's what I used when I did my Volks, worked fine and didn't get corrosion.

Well long time no post.
First things first, Brendan dunker has the patience of a saint.
After fucking round for almost 3 months to get it running on the megasquirt, he finally got it going.
Then we had a chat and decided to go Link. Wish I had done this from the start but you live and you learn.
Good thing is it is now running and driving. Need to do a few things then will be going onto a dyno for a proper tune.
