Hey guys, thought I should start a build thread, never made one for any of my cars..

So I have an ae71 that started off as a stocker about 2 years ago.. bought it with hopes of building it into a drift car.. upgraded the suspension, put some new bushes etc in it, 2 fixed backs and a steering wheel, ended up wearing out the old 4ac as I learnt how to skid well into 3rd-4th gear (wet weather warrior) and finally decided I was cool enough to build a 4age to swap in.

I was scared of all the wiring so decided on going carbies which was just more hassle with ignition, tuning etc.. Anyway, I ended up building a forged bigport 16v with 40mm DHLA dellortos, needless to say it sounded monster and went well (never properly), but I ended up getting defected for dumb shit like my filter socks and rust in my tailgate..

Also, having like 14 demerits or something on my green P's, held off paying my fines until I have my full license, and kept the corolla off the road to keep my license, I decided to build it into a track car for real. I started with selling the 4age (which I ripped myself off with.. sold the whole setup for a mere $2000) and was tossing up between an sr20 or a 1uz swap.. This story begins with me buying a stat written off vy sv8 manual..

So far I have the corolla stripped bare pretty much.. no carpet, sound deadening, dash, interior, roof lining, anything. Only my steering column and pedals.

Yesterday I started stripping my old engine mounts off my 4a crossmember, and grinding it clean, but there is so many different options and way to try to fit the ls1 into the little corolla that I am stuck at a crossroads.

This is just a start I will have to work on more info as I think of it..

As for questions, just wondering who has any pictures of mounting, modification to parts like firewalls, crossmembers, steering rack, headers, starter motor? These can all help me at the moment as I am scared to start modifying my firewall and would perhaps like an easier option..

Thanks guys.

First start up with the 4age in it..

Little tuning of the carbies.. never got it right.

Hey guys,
I will add some pictures I have laying around on my phone..
Yeah.. I already found davey's blog and have been messaging him about his sump setup, ecu setup etc, basically bombarding him with questions.

Edit: need to fix your image uploader shit, cannot upload pics to the thread, same with my for sale thread, even like 100kb pics.

Looking good! All the questions are easy once you have done it haha Me and the wife worked many hours doing the conversion but its well worth it! So so fun, pick any gear and you are away! I went into 4th accidentally instead of 2nd and it still went just lots of smoke haha

Hey Dave just wondering if you needed to modify anything for clearance for your manifolds? I kinda just dummy fitted the standard sv8 manifold on the drivers side and was touching the rail :(

Had to mod rails and add thicker plate to where we notched.

Haha, should be fairly easy to achieve.. Seen pics of how it's been done already..

@Davey: Did you notch far into the rail?

also, couldn't you find aftermarket headers to fit?

Customer headers are 2g at the cheapest. There are a few in eBay but didn't want to risk just in case they didn't fit. Lots of rail cutting lol

Well shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. Update guys, car is finished.. I might go through my list of build photos, and just line them all up, explaining each photo I guess..

Jeez, will have to do it some time soon, 2am already, took like an hour stuffing around just to get my Xperia z to connect to the computer to upload my pics to photobucket #firstworldproblems.

Anyway, watch out for the whole library of pics I've accumulated over the build.. been a few highs and lows never thought it could do that to me. oh well.
