Do you need a wedge to smash the tapers out or something Im not getting?

nope for my brother's RVR, he needs to replace the rackend for roady asap so he can drive it back down south, no room to get any other tools on it... I told him to just take it somewhere to get it sorted but he's too tightass lol...

so the rack end???, hold the rack shaft with a spanner and a fuck off big spanner on the rack end

cant get a spanner on it, that's the problem, about 10cm diameter area to work in , shit in the way from all angles, above , below, sides etc..

the removal of lots of shit in the way so we could attack it from above with a big open end spanner, a lot of dicking around but its done now...

I feel your pain man aha, replaced the rack ends on my ae112, made this as noone stocks the tool to make it easy locally, and I couldnt be fucked removing the power steering pump xD

thats awesome going to make that, would be handy for moving water pumps ti tension up timing belts on astras too
