Hey dude's and dudettes
My name is Jake, I'm 20 and an Apprentice Auto Electrician. I'm from a quiet NSW Coastal town called Forster.
it's been a while since I've had a project car, and when I got my hands on a 1984 4age Converted KE70 slanty that needed some TLC I thought it would be a perfect time to get into one again. I am building a car with a simple aim-to enjoy it.
I picked up the car last weekend and stripped it of all bolt on panels as soon as it rolled into the shed. The rust was pretty good-usual places like above the tail lights, in the wheel well and between the bonnet and windshield.

interior stripping

The plan for the car will be:

Gloss orange body
Satin Black bolt-on flares
KE30 or KE70 chrome bumpers
Quad headlights
Clear lens LED front indicators
Fender Mirrors
Interior Retrim, Samsung Galaxy Note replacing head unit
Roof spoiler
Rota Grid Classics
4AGTE + Hilux running gear
Coilovers F&R
Adjustable just about everything
Body Bracing
Velo Buckets
Custom dash
Back Seat removal

let the fun begin!

maybe have a look at some suspension improvements before you start that body work? keen to see some neat wiring though

XT130 struts and rear disc conversion is on the cards, followed by a Technotoy lateral bar, 4-link and lcas. new bushes and rubbers where needed. the first stage at this point is the body modifications and having the engine tidied and running so it's driveable. then suspension work can be done on a hoist at work instead of the shed at home

yeah mate, cut down fuel filler neck, spin it round into the boot and make a bracket inside the boot

Welcome and it'll be good to see what you can do with the wiring and are you keeping the 4a?

not exactly, but the beauty of living in my town is the police are very lenient haha
parts I need are:
rear right door+glass
drivers window
window surround trim
tail light trims
beaver panel
XT130 strut and brake assembly

if anybody is willing to sell/donate hit me up.

I will be keeping the 4a for now. Unsure which way I will be going with wiring until I drop the donk back into it but I will keep you all updated

this weekend was a step forward, finally getting all my driveline to my shed. I was informed when I got the car that one of 2 t50 boxes it came with was blown, so I set out to find the condition of both just to be sure.
sure enough, 2nd gear was blown
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/514873.jpg

but the other box seems alright so ill just put a seal kit through it

Jake70
8th November 2013, 09:26 PM

It's the only place mine has rust and it is bad I have actual holes in mine. I'm going to do the same. Thanks for the idea.

Jake70
11th November 2013, 12:32 PM
mine had big holes all along the top of the beaver panel. boot seal lip was gone too. best thing to do is get one hacked off another car and separate the panel from the scrap, grind the spotwelds out and roll the excess metal off with a pair of sidecutters.

Ahh Np thanks for the heads up. Looks like when my new front beaver pannel arrives I'll go looking for an old rally shell with no rear end damage or rust and try the same thing

dummy-fitted the beaver panel tonight. tech-screwed in to line it all up. Still have some small rust and damage to repair but all very minimal.

Not much of an update, been flat out at work and in the process of moving house. got myself a tidy as hell flat front conversion, but my issue is this
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/7/4/0/1/516215.jpg
anybody else have this problem?

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/7/4/0/1/516216.jpg actually got a beaver panel with this front end which is nice

also did some seam welding up the strut towers, welding in the rear panel tomorrow night if all goes to plan, then theres just the floor pan braces and rear strut mounts to stitch.
once that's finished I move on to guards and paint!

Owned by a good friend of mine, who I actually purchased my sedan from. Used to be a B/T 20v 7a but it did the bottom end, so we threw a 7afe into it at work.
There's also another one the same colour, but it has Shakotans and a half cage
