View Full Version : What will give me less track? Nrca vs lca

Hey,
i want to minimise the track of the front of my AE86, so I can fit my 15x10-30 wheels a bit more snug.
I currently have corona LCA's with T3 camber tops and no RCA, my question is what will give me less track but still maintain 3 degrees camber with a bit of adjustment each way, corona LCA's with standard RCA's or standard LCA's with NRCA's?
thanks for any help

smaller wheels? bigger guards?
if your heart is set....then
stock lca (if the wheel fit on the inside?) and cusco camber tops (might even need to grind a little bit out of them to get more adjustment

I have N2 flares, and I'm pretty set on keeping the wheels, do the cusco camber tops have more adjustment then the T3 ones?

Shit dude, what is the point of the tens? If you already have n2 flares and rims that fill them, and it isnt presenting enough grip, you might want to try other things. Such as weight reduction, tuning suspension, corner scales, better tyres. Whats the point of a 10 with anything less than 225 tyres? Would the tyres that suit the rims even fit with bigger wheels, or are you going to put on a 10 with a stretched 205 to fit it under the gaurd which further undermines your grip?

That's the the problem I'm facing, at the moment I have 195's on them and their just sitting flush with the flares, I really want to run 235 or 245, I have s14 brakes on it ATM with modified hubs and a floating disc with 5mm spacers, and corona LCA's so the front is already 100mm wider then it needs to be, im going to take the s14 brakes off and run a rx7 kit from ajps so I don't have the extra thickness of the disc and shouldn't need the 5mm spacer, plus I put a standard lca back on, the wheel sits a lot closer in now but with the camber tops set all the way in I only have like 2-3 degrees camber

i think youre better off running an 8 (with an offset so it just clears the strut with the tyre on - least bump steer) inch wheel (lighter as well) with a 225/50/15 (IPRA control tyre)
and then run a 50mm std RCA
and then get adjustable lca and set them and your camber tops to achieve desired track and camber, it will be much better in the long run

This is with the disc floating on the hub and the corona lca and the 5mm spacer out

and this is with the standard lca and the disc behind the hub with no spacers

both have the camber top all the way in, and the n2 guards sit about 35mm out

so with 8 inch wheels around a 0 offset (providing they clear the strut with the tyres)
it would sit 55mm further in (from the one without spacers)
which looks like it will solve your issues
and then you can adjust the track and camber with adjustable lca and camber tops to get the desired alignment
and in the mean time - reduce weight, bump steer, and still be able to fit the 294mm brakes

True, but then wouldn't running the n2 guards become pointless then because it would just be extra drag without the extra traction? Because with the bottom photo the wheel is in close enough to suit the n2 flares its just I've lost all adjustment

you can run a 225 tyre on the 8s (that will have more grip than a 195 on a 10 any day of the week)
and you can set your camber tops to positive camber and wind your lca out until it fits your guards if thats what youre looking for?

Heres roughly where the flare will sit

Thats why I want to minimise the track so I can run 245's, but don't know if I should sell my corona LCA's and buy NRCA's or keep the corona LCA's and buy normal RCA's

get rose jointed adjustable LCA - plus 50mm RCA for sure

Get 9's max. N2 cars never ran 10 up front. its pointless
-30 will feel like shit to drive.

Less offset less width, thing will turn like shit, you will be fighting the wheel constantly. Better off doing what dave said

195 should be fine for what you are doing, just get a good rubber.

if this is seriously being built for track work, you need to do so much more research into how to build a fast car.
if this is being built to look cool... your doing a fine job :)
