Hi

Not a pretty site at all to see.

If you want to fix i can supply full front clip cut thru thru the stut top area.
You could have the poannel shop unpick yours then just pull the rail straight and attach this. Just an option for you to keep the car if interested, or any body out there who needs to fix it once brought.

cheers

I can vouch for this car Prior to the accident, as it was a one of a kind car due to its amazing condition when I sold it to Ryan late last year & No rust ever !! & No damage either at the time & he paid quite a bit more for this car at the time !! even though it was stock ..

He has carried out the conversion & For some reason he has painted under the bonnet black, must be a young guy thing ?? ..

I sold it on this site & its still available for viewing but i'm not savvy enough to put a link up to the previous ad, ( i tried ) its under my user name & its under ( 1984 ADM in Amazing condition AE86 ) there is 2 links as i accidently double posted the ad at the time ..

Sorry to see its demise Ryan, but as you said at least you are ok as I'm guessing another fraction of a second & I'm sure you would have been wearing that other car in the Side of your car !!

Hopefully some savvy panel beater can fix it ..

Regards ..

Rob ..

What would be the cost of repair do you guys think? Including the price of buying a front cut off of one of you guys

You mean if you took it to a smash repairer and asked them to do it all?

DanielRai

Yeah, I have no idea what it would cost and I'm just wondering if it would be possible under my budget

Hi Daniel,

You would be hard-pressed to find a shop that will actually take out the time and do such a job - a lot are now just insurance sausage factories, which is sad.
However, if you supplied the parts, it is a labour intensive job, and insurance companies generally allow $80 per hour for jobs.

Expect $50-$80 per hour, and maybe 3 or 4 days work. Potentially $2000

I'm not trying to detract from Ryan's thread, but I've spoken with him about repairing it (as my family own a panel shop)

Here is a picture of the general panel structure on an AE86, and in order to do the job properly, you would un-pick them at the seams.

It is definitely repairable - however it's how much money you're willing to spend.

It's hard to quote because of so many factors.
As a guide to strip and paint a bumper, you're looking at $400-$500.

I would think you could have this car back on the road for around the $8,000 mark paying someone to repair it. I have seen it in the flesh prior to the accident and it is immaculate in every way possible. If I had the time and the money, I would've purchased it when it came up for sale and repaired it. It is a very honest and original car.

Here's the original for sale thread:

Thanks Jarrad, that's probably going to be out of my budget, I checked out the original ad before and it looks amazing. Such a shame to see this happen especially so soon after all the work that was done. If my finances change I would be interested although the only thing that worries me is if it will be classed as a write off and can be registered and how well the repairs can be done. All depends on the repairers I guess, anyway GLWS Ryan the car really looks amazing (apart from the damage)

I'm guessing as Ryan said he had no insurance that no one officially knows about the damage to the car ?? so will not be listed / classed as a write off ??

Not a write off as it was not insured.

Hey guys

yes not written off as I had no insurance, and it's still registered at the moment hahah, I really need to cancel it.

There is no such thing as a written off vehicle register for any car older than a 1986 model in Victoria anyway.
