I need to flare my rear gaurds, like as far as they will go.

Surprisingly, there is not a thread on how to do it.

So I need to know who hasdone what, and how.

Cheers
Rhys

Smaller wheels are not an option

Smaller wheels.

Fairly useless post.

There is an inner guard that you can cut so that it is easier to flare the lip you see on the outside.

This seems to be the common way, but I think you can just bash the shit out of it till it comes out even with the inner casing, as my car from Japan didn't have any of the inner casing cut to be flared, so just go to town on it.

You'll need to add bog to that list as well, no chance of making it smooth because of the amount of hammering.

i hate those bloody guard lining bits, thats the only part which rubs on mine, i block hammered one side, but then after i changed tyres it started rubbing on the other side, hammers are the best tool :D

Maybe Rob with the white notch can help you out. He did a really good write up on the old site. Not sure if anyone saved it. But had many pics, etc.

My KE guards required the old cutting slots method to get it out fat enough.. No matter how much i beat it with a hammer I just couldn't get it to stretch far enough... Even with the oxy it still wouldn't go..

Bolt ons are always nice and easy... Not the best looking at times though....

Your wheels must have some big offset...

you can get 9 -13 under a ( not extremely) flared guard.. From what I can see in the pics from the AJPS 15x9 thread..

You can get simmons in any width.... Through Retro wheels.. Simmons no longer sell 15's so you can only get them through the retro wheels ppl.. No idea on cost though... would guess there not cheap though...

I feel you on the longer diff issue... I just replaced my diff with one the right lenght and now I need bigger wheels.. Lol

Gunner

Gunner

as of 2 months ago, there is no more simmons wheels australia.

so if you see cheap simmons buy them, prices will sky rocket i recon

Any pics on what to cut out underneath the guards to make it easier to flare?

fantapants
30th July 2009, 10:02 PM
there was a heap on the old forum marv, ill try and dig around and pull some up for you.

basically you cut the inner seam away from the outer skin as close as you can to the join, then flare away.... when happy ... put some new metal in to fill the gap :)

dont cut n weld! u dont need to, if u get some heat into it and get cranking with your hammer you will get it out, their is a thread in the 70 rides section where its running
14 x 9 - 19 and no cutting required.
