So over the weekend I purchased an AE86 from Melbourne which I thought would be only good for a few of those difficult to find things like wiring harnesses and door hinges and latches etc...

The plan was to take it back and cut it up and keep the straight panels as spares and scrap the shell.

Whilst i haven't dug too deep yet, I feel there could be some life left in her yet. The obvious places (around the front screen), hatch, below the tail lights m , b pillar etc have all been infected.

And the worst side..

Plan is to fix the rust and get it rolling properly and go from there.

Doesn't look impossible to bring back! Would be a shame to just part it up -

What are the plans for it if you decide to keep it ?

First plan is to work out how to get it off the trailer in a few mins. Long term plans I'll know more once the rust repairs are underway.

Engine wise will if it is kept will be either a beams or big port haven't decided yet

Got it off the trailer ok by dragging it with another car until the rear was at the base of the ramps and driving the tow car forward. Wasn't too bad and managed to keep it from being damaged.

I picked up a rusty bonnet which will do for now until i find time to repair it.

Engine wise will be a Silvertop 20v with 7a bottom end mated to a T50 as I'll probably get the car registered. Most likely i'll drop the motor in next weekend.

The rust on the passenger side is the worst of it, with the rear quarter glass and sill coping most of it. The usual across the back below the tail lights is there and around the front windscreen. None of it appears to be structural which is a surprise given the sellers description of it.

I'll keep the interior bare until the rust repairs are complete.

To me this looks like an epic resto. But props to you man for bringing this beloved car back to life.

Don't bush pig it. That'll be too easy.

A few stupid things have held me back from installing a motor. Those pesky clips that the slave bearing hub sits on and bellhousing bolts.

I have a 7a 20v silvertop motor that was built a while back ready to go in. I'll be getting ae86 nuckles, struts and hubs soon to go in to replace the ke70 crap. I made up a haltech loom and will be looking for a complete gt apex interior after Xmas is out of the way.

I haven't started on the rust repairs as yet but a quarter clip will be sourced for the passenger side. Drivers side appears to be fine.

I've sourced the clips now and will be attacking this if time permits over the weekend.

I also got a set of struts, hubs , power steer knuckles and lcas from dan @ jdm wheels last night.
