General Questions About a 16v Engine Swap/ Conversion

Hi, i recently found an ae86 shell in my local area and was interested in investing to rebuild it but i know little to nothing about cars. I would like to put a 16v 4age engine in it from a newer corolla and just had a few questions about the instillation process.
1.Is it like the swap of a v20 which needs its own custom parts?;
2.Or does it simply slide in with few to no extra parts?
3.Do i use the transmission of the new corolla that i took the engine out of or do i use the an ae transmission?
4.What is the general cost of a swap?
I know i have missed a lot of what it takes to convert and any info that you could provide would be really helpful.

To answer your question properly we need a little more info but there is a plethora of information available for this kinda thing if you do a little searching..

What later model corolla did the engine come out of, what's the engine code?

You will need to use the ae transmission as the newer corollas are fwd and the 86 is rwd, specifically, a t56 gearbox. You can also use 'w' series gearboxes with minimal modifications.

Cost varies, how much can you do yourself, how much will need to be done by a garage. The more you can do yourself the cheaper it becomes. I would say that most people can do all the mechanical side of things with some patience and time spent researching the topic. I would however, recommend getting the wiring done professionally, save yourself the headache.

It's a common swap. From the ae86 you will need the t50 gearbox. The engine mounts. The rear water block (back of the head)

From the Corolla you'll need the engine water set up including the remote thermostat housing. The alternator and the starter motor
Also pays to take the fuel pump and bracket
Throttle cable (or use a ke70 one) and you'll need the engine front and inside loom( or atleast the 14pin and the cor for the fuel pump)

Also from the ae86 you need the rear flex plate. You'll need a new spigot bearing. You'll have to cut and shit the intake manifold and need an exhaust manifold made. Up

As you can see the car is baron of any parts, luckily i have a mate who has a bunch of exterior (body panels, lights, bumpers etc.), interior and suspension parts that he would be willing to give/ sell to me. Which leaves the engine, transmission which is why i came here to ask about the swap. As for the specific engine there are many corollas from 88' - 94' in my area. Which one from which year model would require the least amount of modification?

Ae82 or ae92/3 are both relatively easy. The ae93 wiring loom is very short and will need to be extended. The ae82 wiring loom is easier to work on. As said before the ae82 fuel pump and bracket can be modified to work in the ae86 tank. You'll need a gearbox. Jdm t50 is best bang for buck. $400-500 That way the clutch slave will be away from the exhaust. And you'll need an exhaust

What part of Melbourne are you in?
I have some old headers and an exhaust that will bolt straight in, you can have em.
Can also help you out with other parts as I have a heap of spares as far as interior parts an engine bits go, even have a 4age an looms in the shed I'll let go for cheap.

What is the loom out of and has it been cut or is it complete?

I have several.
One is a complete loom, front to back out of a jdm trueno, I think kouki. I paid $700 from Japan, only a coupla wires damaged.

I have a couple of ae82 engine looms and 1 ae101 loom Inc ecu, airbox and afm.

ae82 loom will be fine
