hi guys, in order to order some parts from toyota japan they need to apparently put the part "on file" so they can't just work with the part number, they are apparently refusing to do it without a vin and model number.

so can anyone please post up a Vin number for a JDM ae86 that came with the factory drum brake T series diff?

if you don't want to post it here could anyone please sms one to 0433 012 147?

really need our help!! thanks guys.

its not that they are refusing to do it, but thats how theyre computer systems work. they type in a VIN number and then search from there for your required part. without a VIN they have to go through billions of parts, which just isn't gonna happen. sucks but thats the way most are now, I have this trouble getting JDM subaru bits too.

EDIT: if you get stuck mate, give a few import yards a ring, they may have a half cut or something you can read a VIN from.

A VIN which corresponds to this plate is:
04805508

That VIN also covers both the drum and disc zenki T-series rear ends.

So if you take that VIN number along with the photo of the plate I put up they'll have everything they need.

are you ordering directly from japan or from an australian toyota dealer who will order from japan??

I ordered both 20v parts and JZX100 chaser parts through my local toyota dealer who never asked for VIN?? just looked it up and got the numbers and ordered?? Ive even asked them for part numbers and looked over the parts listing for jdm EFI setups for ae86?? (was trying to find gaskets etc).

ccheer for the help thus far. yea through my local dealership who is cotacting japan. i've bought shitloads of obscure aw11 parts before ad this has never been a problem but for some reason it is... Golberg cheers for that number. is that long enough though? isn't a VIN typically about 17 numbers?

The japanese VIN system is a bit different, atleast the one from the 80's is.

04805508 is what you'll need for thier EPC.

But it can also be combined with the frame no. making:
04805508 5041160

And to gaz20v, all Toyota dealers are different, my local dealer I can just go in with a part no. and they'll order it, even if its from a Jap import model. Some dealers will refuse to have anything to do with grey imports, and some will ask for VIN no.s, even though they don't realise that they don't really need them. Its all about the dealer, give them what they want and they'll get you the part.

This has everything you need to know about doing just about anything on an AE86 including rebuilding a diff:

http://rs171.rapidshare.com/files/112053149/Toyota_Corolla_1983_AE86_Chasis_Repair_Manual.rar

Its the genunine Toyota AE86 manual.

I personally would take my diff to a proper diff shop though, as I don't have the tools to set it up correctly.
