when i was a teenager i did martial arts to combat my anger problems. worked well.

when i stopped i did as 86trd does and started breaking stuff when im angry.

i started martial arts again which stopped this angry towards people but i still get angry and break stuff when working on cars. that shit pisses me off.

no more projects for me, if im going to modify something ill pay someone. i spend 2-3x as much as labour would cost on me breaking stuff. not worth it

started with aiki jujitsu. i learnt a fair bit but there wasnt enough striking for my anger. was all grabs, throws and holds. i could strike like a motherfucker though but didnt realise then.

after 3 years i wanted to do more striking.

so i then did tae kwon do and boxing at the same time. i did both to improving my striking. i thought tae kwon do would improve my kicks and boxing my punches.

when i did my instructors for both were astounded at how hard and fast i was striking for only a beginner.

tae kwon do improved my kicking slightly. i could do 3 kicks mid-air (i am now restricted to 2 from lack of practice). it also taught me how to burst my attacks and keep my opponent at a distance.

boxing improved my punches slightly but really helped my endurance in a fight. i could go easily for 5mins all out and not be tired (any normal bloke is lucky to be able to go 30secs all out and not be tired). it also helped me to dodge attacks in a hairs distance and sharpened my eyes. it also taught me to be tow to toe with someone (extreme close quarters) and still fight.

i learnt after 6 years of both that aiki jujitsu had taught me all those things but i just took it all for granted.

if i stuck with aiki jujitsu the whole time i would be a much better fighter.
