i have a big problem.... i have just recently put in a 3SGE Beams (black top) into an AE86 and well it runs good.....besides the fact that most of the time when i rev up (with load; and in gear) it would cut off at 5000rpm. Like VVTi has trouble engaging. sometimes it would stay stuck on 5 (kinda choking) and sometimes it chokes a few times and then goes all the way to 8000rpm.

I've read up about something referring to the ACIS which normally opens at 5000rpm too.....but i'm not too sure what to look for.

It would really be appreciated if someone could help.

can you clarify what you meant? drift-pig... did you use a standard ECU? and did it blow up before or after you couldn't get past the 4500rpm? Did going aftermarket from Anthony Kellum fix it?

After further testing, found issue is present mainly on full throttle.
Creeping up on half throttle allows for clean revving to 7-8K
Drove with both vvti solenoid unplugged, drove OK, lacking power
Drove with exhaust solenoid unplugged, found issue to return, plugged exhaust back on and unplugged intake and found to be able to rev cleanly.
Is there anything else that might influence vvti? and if so in what way?

hey... thanks for the reply and help guys...but after more testing.... i found out that it was something real simple........ turns out there wasn't enough Fuel pressure!!! i ran it at 60psi (idle) and i guess when you rev up to 5000rpm it would starve having only around 56/55psi.... turns out that running it at 68psi on idle and let it draw down to 62psi made everything run extremely smooth.

Is it normal to have 68psi of fuel pressure......or is it because its a high compression engine?

regards

Also..i'll have some photos added soon for ya... its not as neat as some people's probject......but i tried to make it as stock looking as i could (except for intake filter).... Its my first conversion so....

ok I have a pile of questions to ask about your ride but this isn't the appropriate place, could you start a member ride page with the pics of your car? I am sure many others would also be interested.

Also welcome to ae86dc
