Can anyone recommend a gauge that is good quality and accurate, without the Defi price.
I'm after a full set of gauges for my drifter but don't want to spend 2 grand on Defi's.
Any help?

Autometer Gauges are pretty good, they have been around for years unlike a lot of companies now making cheaper gauges like Supercheap "calibre" and autobarns "drift" brand.
You can get 52mm gauges in electronic senders for roughly $120 each (sometimes less on sale or 20% storewide on promotion @ Autobarn)
I have had water temp, oil temp, oil pressure and boost/vac all in metric temperatures for a few years now and never had any problems.

Are Autometer really that good?
I always thought they were cheap for a reason... I don't know, I've always been steered away from them.:S

Hey sprinter86, that microtech display thing, how does it display warnings? Is it text based or LED's go from shift light to warning mode?
Sprinter86
23rd August 2009, 07:31 PM
oops sorry i meant to say speco. not VDO. -edited.
um it lights up warning LED's for water temp, oil pressure, rev limiter, boost. etc.
and then tells you what the problem is in text form as well, pretty handy thing actually.

Buy them from merlin motorsport. It's like 0.5 pound to a dollar. 35 pounds is 70 bucks.
2 Temp and an oil pressure gauge shipped was 290 when I bought some a month ago. 290 is a bit to pay for three gauges but they look hell cool.:D

Dom, The Defi are all stepper motor(expensive) while the stacks are just electric gauges(cheap). The Stack stepper motor ones would be just as expensive as Defi's. Just pay the 1500 or more and get a ST8130. :D
Or make one like I did.

From what I've read they used the same stepper type motor as Defi. Haven't read anything bad yet.
Basically they seem to be a cheaper rip off of DEFI.
