    Default 4agze options?

I was thinking to myself what options apart from turboing a ze is there?

I have been tossing up the idea of going a modified gze, rather than turboing, just for something different.

Just some questions to be asked

    - would there be a limitation on how big the cam could be?
    - I know HKS do a modified s/c for the 4age but is there anything else?
    - rs yasu make the 1.8l stroker kit, because they use ca18 pistons, would there be a massive benefit.
    - apart for bigger pulleys, what are the other options??

Its just a loose idea at the moment as the N/A build thats been sitting in the garage just over a year now, is still not giving me motivation.

    Cheers

    1) Yes. Not many people on the board would have an answer to how-big-is-too-big for an SC motor, because not many have gone down that path

    2) The HKS kit is nothing exciting.

    3) The RS-YASU 4.5AG kit doesn't use very strong rods (bigport), and the CA pistons REALLY thin out the cylinder walls. Their 7AG 1.8 kit is super expensive.

    4) Next option would be bigger supercharger. SC14 can be fitted with a bit of mucking around, and can make some good power too (~150rwkw)

i am in the process of doing a GZE. i dont want to go down the turbo path just yet.

i am using the SC14 from a 1ggze, its larger and pumps more CFM and can produce 18psi

cams around the 264 mark are good for boost. going larger may yield benifits, but becareful of too much valve overlap with boost. you will actually go backwards....

i dont know bout the reliability of the ca18 pistons, the bores will have to be bored out that much, you may run into overheating issues and bores cracking due to being too thin.

i think the best options are a good aftermarket ecu, cams, some good head work, a good manifold design and tune.
sprinterboys 4agze is making 150kws at the wheels.....with these mods

    My last build was:
    - 8.9CR GZE (stock as far as I know)
    - 264deg cams
    - SC14 pushing 16psi
    - NA inlet manifold and throttle

All relatively cheap and easy (didn't crack the motor open, just a bunch of brackets and piping to make) and made 143rwkw on the dyno. I am a little skeptical of that figure myself as it didn't feel too much faster than the previous 110rwkw, but then again it was hurried and things like cam timing etc etc still need to be properly adjusted.

I personally wouldn't go doing fancy internal things. Just settle for 100-130rwkw from an SC 4A, or turbo it and go as silly as you like. Alternatively if the budget allows it, strap on a twinscrew SC and have real fun.
