    Default Rear trailing arms

Car - AE71 Corolla running T series diff, one piece tailshaft

Height - Lowered on cut falcon springs (220mm) custom made shocks to suit.

Problem - Concerned about pinion angle, angle isnt too bad as its not THAT low, but would like to look into possibilities of correcting it.

occurs/started when - When i lowered the car and bolted a one piece tailshaft in. I have a feeling my uni's arent going to last very long.

Personal situation - After researching adjustable upper trailing arms (whileline) and traction brackets (ajps, whiteline) i've thought about the possibility of using upper trailing arms from another vehicle to maybe give the correct pinion angle. I have found out that the Ae95 (4wd) and the tercel also run the same bushes as the Ae71/Ae86, which will allow an easy bolt in. Has anyone done anything like this before? or know the lengths of the trailing arms from the vehicles mentioned?

only problem with that idea is, how do u know the exact length you would need for the upper arms to correct the pinion angle? the ae95 might correct it a little, it may over correct. seems a long shot, but i think you would be a luck man if it worked properly

im going about fixing the same issue, except im going to make the stock upper arms adjustable.

when i do it i can show you, if you want i can nock some up for you aswell. should have them done in a few weeks.

I have HEARD rear lateral arms from an AE101 can be used for lower arms, and they are adjustable from factory. That's as much as I know though sorry, but may be worth looking into if your could get your hands on some from a wreckers.

Picked up the ae101 rear lateral bars today form the wreckers, They are an OD of 15mm which is similar to the top trailing arms used in the ae71, Though i would not want to use them to replace the bottem trailing arms as they have an OD of 25mm. I'm sussing things out about using them as top adjustable arms, maybe shortening them and re-threading. Not sure yet as i havent had a chance to have a good look under the car and do some measuring. But it all seems to be possible.

Yeah that could be an option to using them as lower trailing arms. Maybe slip a pipe over the original rod, say 15mm ID and 25-30 OD then Weld them at both ends, though this would still leave the centre as weak as it started. Any suggestions?

what I've done and also seen done succesfully with 4x4's in the past is sleeve the original arm with something stronger, drill holes along its length to spot weld it on

Thats a good idea. But it makes me think, if there are adjustable lateral arms in a FWD corolla, there must be chunkier adjustable lateral arms in something bigger, say Magna??
