It could be cheaper if you just start with a GZE block and refresh it. I would run 7mgte injectors even if its only a bit of boost so you aren't close to maxing the injectors. A GOOD tune will go far aswell.
yeah with only 10psi you might not even need to change to gze pistons

so if i get pistons and rods out of a aw11 with a gze in it should bolt up to my crank? the cams are 8.1mm lift. I put a wtb add up to buy a gze but with no luck so i think im going to build the motor i have to run the turbo
yea the plans are to start with 10psi and go from there, maby in the future i will put a bigger turbo and higher psi.. and i would rather not have a rod snap on me and go thro the block on me as i wont to try and do it right the first time..
yes once i get it all running i will be getting a tune for sure, if i could get a gze i would go that way
thanks for your replys
has anyone eles built a turbo motor for a 4a as i would like to know what you did??
I did
AE101 GZE bottom end (stock), with bigport head.
Didn't show any signs of problems and it took 1 1/2 years of beating in my hands (with LOTS of boost), and then there were another two owners before me..
Much difference between Bigport GZE rods vs standard Bigport ones? I'm sure I read somewhere that they were the same and only the pistons were different (semi-forged ceramic top)![]()
If this is true, I'd assume a standard Bigport bottom end with new GZE pistons should work for a low boost setup?
bigport gze rods won't work with a NA bigport motor unless it's a 7 rib.
The only way you'll get gze pistons to work with 40mm crank is machine out the rod to take the bigger gudgeon or to get custom rods.
and getting a 'tune' means nothing. Getting a GOOD tune by reputable workshops who haven't blown motors recently and has the equipment to listen for knock will go a long way.
ok if u have an na motor do the turbo kit and run 5 psi of boost it will last all day everyday on the stock injectors if not get 7mgte for cheap
otherwise use the current motors components and get a gze long motor transfer everything over and run an easy 10 psi all day everyday
the stock 3 rib bigports are shit for turbo conversions as they don't have the 7 rib strength and oil squirts
the dyno pull to 300rwkw
BT20v is making 300rwkw like i said i would without nitrous so now its time for some spray and see if she will run a 10s or less
5psi is poo, run it on 10-12 and she'll love it and it'll bew worth all the hassle
sorry to hijack but anyone got any self experience turboing a standard bigport
