    Default Fuel injectors

    Hey guys

    Car - ae86

    motor - smallport 4age

    use - Daily

    problem -

Ever since i changed my motor as my last one died, I have been getting terrible fuel economy like 300kms to a tank and the motor is just a standard smallpot running bigport managment. John (sprinterman) installed the motor and he told me that it had different injectors (carried over from the original) and that was why it would blow a bit of smoke from running to rich. So i bought another set of bigport injectors to install and the plug on the motor doesnt suit? This would be because it is no longer running bigport injectors yes? The running injectors at the moment are blue and the new ones are green.

Also when i was looking I also found that there was another injector plug that had been cable tied not plugged in. I assume that this is for a cold start injector? wouldnt this effect fuel economy as well? The car is fine in the mornings and cold starts

Sorry for so many questions and they might be stupid

    any help is great

green ones are definately smallport, blue is big port (or not smallport).
so that maybe why they dont fit as the its the wrong injectors..?

so the new motor should require smallport injectors to run correctly?

a for the cable tied thing that usually as the plug probably comes loose stuffing things up.

Thanks Adam, that's odd because the John said that they are definitely larger injectors (the ones on the motor) and the guy sold me a set of bigport injectors???

so where would this spare injector plug go which was cabletied off?

but your saying your are running a big port ecu and loom, and all bigport sensors.

shouldnt that mean that you shoudl be running bigport injectors as well?

    +1

smallport injecters have different plugs, just to be clear, the plugs that connect onto the injectors are different..

i had a bigport 3 rib with either dark green, could of been blue injecters
bigport 7 rib with pink injectors, more rounded plug and were bigger
smallport injectors, havent taken noticed of them just yet

this has nothing to do with your question but just throwing out some info lol

wouldnt the ecu control the amount of fuel delivery ? despite the injector size .

try servicing the injectors and changing fuel filter. whats the timing like ?

I would have thought this! but the car came from japan like this so who knows. When the motor was installed it was running a smallport with a bigport manifold ecu and everything but then i was told it was running larger injectors and it uses a fuck load of fuel! and i also thought that it would slowly fix it a bit but its been the same for about 6 months

no idea on the timing but i would say it has been changed will have to get a timing light, what would be the best setting running 98?

have a look at your O2 sensor and go to your local auto store and ask for an O2 sensor (for a rolla 4age) and see if it looks the same and the plugs are the same, im sure they will have one in stock, its just an O2 sensor
