    Default ae71 manual conversion stuffs

Again I've searched but cant find the relevant posts... Once this is all sorted I'll do a short write up and stick it in the tech articles so it doesnt get asked again. (4ac/t50)

I was told the ae86 gearbox member would work but from being under the car just a minute ago it obviously doesnt, the front holes on the member line up with the rear holes on the floorpan... so does anyone have a ae71 manual gearbox member I can buy??

I've also got the tailshaft from an aee86, front half lines up perfect as does the centre bearing... the rear half is just a smidge too long. what do I use to make this all work nicely?

    Cheers

    Simon

Correct. I found the same problem. AE86 gearbox crossmember did not bolt up, I had to use an AE71 gearbox crossmember. If you are handy with a welder or grinder it shouldn't be hard to make one or get some 4x2 steel tube and use that.

AE86 tailshaft wont work, you need an AE71 tailshaft. If you find that the end can actually bolt up fine, slot the holes on the centre bearing to slide it further forward. The output shaft that slides into the box should be able to move further forward.

    spewing i got told otherwise...

would the rear half be able to be poached from any where? or would i be stuck to using the ae71 one? edit the t18 rear half is the right length, but before I grab it I've got a feeling the holes wont line up to my shitty bw diff?

and finally. when I go to a T series diff... do I need the rear of the 86 shaft to match it all up again?

You need the rear section from an AE86 that has a T-series or the rear section from a TE72 to run T-series diff.
