    Default 2tg to 3tg conversion

Looking to do this to my car, but struggling to find good info on what is exactly needed.

from what i can tell i can get away with most of the 3tc bottom end with some different pistons, but other than that i'm not so sure.

    any info would be good.

Have you got access to Toymods? Lots of info there.

If not I'll copy some over if you like.

    You mean a 3T / 2TG Hybrid?

What do you want to know. PM me.

From what I can tell the main thing you need is the 3T crank and matching 89mm 3TC oversized pistons. Giving you a capacity of roughly 1940cc. I also read on Toymods of people flycutting the piston, but I'm no engine builder so don't quote me.

Not to sure if I read correctly, but is the 2TG block the same as the 3TC, just that the 3TC has a longer crank?

If so does that mean the same timing chain can be used?

Heres a quick link to a discussion on similar issues Javal has listed below . .

Swap all the timing gear over from the 2TG. I believe you use the 2T layshaft and dizzy as well, but i think they're identical anyway.

You need 3T increased compression pistons with valve reliefs cut into them (don't go crazy on the high compression as the 2TG head has a lesser volume than that of the 3T head, hence buying 11:1 pistons is NOT a good idea).

Size of the flycuts depends on whether you're running oversize valves or higher lift / longer duration cams.

    Hit toymods.

    Also . . .

Could be handy for some more first hand information

    Edit:

Just remembered, I think there was a user on Toyota Car Club called "Starfire" who knew a bit about his 2TG's and maybe even the hybrids. If Javal (dare I say it) can't help you, than he might have first hand experience.

    Edit 2:

Just found some more information that might be more . . . direct.

Also it has been recommended in a few threads to go for 88.5mm Pistons so that you don't bore out the 2TG walls to much for a safer engine. Also been suggested to look into a 3TGTE oil pump (higher capacity), baffled sump for oil starvation issues and upgrading the valve springs.

It all depends on if you want to just increase the capacity of the engine or create something powerful in terms of the money you spend.

Sorry in advance if any of this seems a little rushed, not 100% awake
