    Default Tokico HTS shocks

I just bought a full set of Tokico's from the USA and I've been told that the front ones don't fit. I'm not sure what to do now, where can I get some good, new aftermarket front shocks? It was hard enough to find the Tokicos

Tell them to make a spacer/s for it to move the shock body up or down so it locates the piston in roughly the middle of the stroke of the damper. or cut the strut down.

You are running lowering springs to go with them, right?

They are designed to be short stroke. You can call Gabe at TechnoToyTuning and ask him if his strut spacer will work for you. You should just take this opportunity and make coilovers out of your struts now since the only other way to use them PROPERLY is to make the strut shorter. Spacing the strut from below risks bottoming it out.

yeah Im pretty sure that your shocks would be the ae92 ones??
They are the right diameter but they are like 60mm shorter.
So basically you should shorten the strut tube to fit the new shocks.
The most common setup i've seen is to shorten the strut tube 40mm and use a 20mm spacer in the bottom of the strut.
Like grant said you should make coilovers of them while you are at it, since the hardest part of making coilovers is shortening the strut. Once the strut is shortened you just weld the coilover sleeve over the strut and put it all back together.
    Heres a video of it.

You have to put up with the american even though he's annoying this vid explains pretty clearly ( and VERY simply) how its all done.

Failing that you could do what I am planning on doing and just send you strut off to AJPS or Shakotan and get them to do it for you and then just wack your shocks in and put it together when they come back.

Thank god lawson is here to save people from pedders!!
Did i ever mention the fella I met once who had an ae86 and had spent $7000 on a 4AC rebuild and upgrading all his suspension to stock at pedders!!!

Yes using 30mm lowered springs. I'm a bit worried about the legality and safety of using spacers and/or modifying the strut. The pedders guy didn't want to use the spacers because he though after a couple thousands Ks the shockers might come loose. And I don't want to risk it bottoming out again. Would I be able get it through Regency with shortened struts or spacers?

well i extremely doubt regency would notice spacers. but you wouldn't get through with a shortened strut!
I don't see how using a spacer will let the shock come loose unless you make the spacer to small.

It IS frustrating isn't it! Just cos he works at pedders tho, doesn't make him a sus expert even tho I'm sure this guy thinks he's as good as an F1 sus engineer!

As you said, spacers been used for years, never a problem.

This seems to be the problem with almost every pedders employee. Don't know shit and they think they're awesome.

Oh, and they love to tell you things are 'No longer serviceable' when they are ~6months old
