alternative 4age ignition.

Hello All

I was just reading some of bill sherwoods 4age pages and found that you can use coil-over-plug units from a 1GGZE.

how does this work? anything else needed or can things be taken away?

and are there any benifits to doing it ?

im taking 16v BP motor

Sure it was 1GGZE? As all the one's i've seen are wasted spark setup and you seem to be after DFI.

from what I read somewhere it was 1ZZFE of 1NZFE or something.

sr20 fits well on a 16V, many others on a 20V what engine are we talking here?

yeh i was sure it was a 1ggze... as i copy and pasted (coil-over-plug units from a 1GGZE) that bit from the web site

so sr20de or det as i think there different... cant remember

its for a 16v Big port 4age.

might be a silly question but if i did this to it ... does that mean i wouldn't need the dizzy hanging off the side?> and if so how you would run them ? IE: get them signal?

Distributor is still there but without cap. No point doing COP since you can't do sequential spark and each coil will fire at the same time if you run stock management. You can't get increased dwell times at high rpms, not that you need it for 1zz coils.

amny will work but sr20 are cheap and fit really well. There shouldn't be a power difference if your ignition system is in good condition. I like running coilpacks because the simplicity and the reliability. The only thing I have to service now is my plugs

how do you get your stock tacho to work with the sr20 coil pack . as i run the gze coil pack and had to change 2 resistors and a capictor in the cluster .

well with running coilpacks you need an aftermarket ECU. So just use the pulsed tacho output?

Do the 1nz coil top plugs fit flush with the cover and minimal install fuss? Any pic avaliable.

Or what particular model plug fits the best in a 16v bigport?
