    Default Tow Cars

    Hey all,

looking at getting myself a tow car instead of just using a work car all the time, interested in what you all use.

Was going to get myself a ute, but only because i can't think of any sort of fast turbo japanese car that would be a practical or useful tow rig

    post up what you've got

    85 Ford F100.

It's the Best tow car Ive ever used, and ive used a 98 GU patrol with a 4.2 ltr turbo diesel before, and it had a full tow pack for towing horse floats and shit, and the F100 kicks the crap out of it.

Really good F100's can be bought for under $8K-$10K, PLENTY of spare parts that dont cost the earth, 99% are V8's, and most are on LPG, transmissions and diffs and nigh on bulletproof. And you can pull nearly anything with them.

I can get a brand new FG XR6 ute for 25k atm as ford are doing staff specials, so i am leaning towards that. I like the idea of getting a turbo one as well, cos they are pretty cheap as well, but i don't know about turbo lag and a trailer, especially as they spin up third under normal driving without a trailer

plus it would look rad with some good offset 18's under it

cannot go past turbo diesel. done 100,000 kms on my d22. towed to qld and everything, never missed a beat.
since lifting it and putting bigger tyres its not as good as it used to be. but still great!.
