Is there brown muddy looking shizz inside your radiator / underneath the radiator cap? If so, take it out and clean it out with a hose. If that isn't the case / doesn't do anything, take your water pump off and have a look inside, if it looks foobarred then replace it. If that doesn't do anything. take it to a radiator place and get them to check it out. From what you've said it sounds like a water pump failure to me.

Does it lose water?? Not something silly like fanbelt too loose to drive it.. although that would give alternator squeal at night...

No drips or puddles on the ground?

If you had a thermostat in it you could do a quick check for a head gasket leak, but w/o it I think you'll need to try the stuff you put in the rad and it changes colour, or a leakdown pressure test.

You know what, forget what everyone else in this thread has said.

FIRST THING TO DO - TAKE YOUR RADIATOR CAP OFF AND HAVE A LOOK AT YOUR COOLANT.

Is it really off colour? Is the level low? Is there even any in there?

You'd be surprised how often retards say 'oh, my car overheated, i did my waterpump and headgasket and it's still overheating'.

    NEXT:

Check the cooling systems for leaks. 90% of the time there's staining or fresh coolant. If there is no coolant in your cooling system, put some tap water in for diagnosis purposes.

Get a torch, check for staining or leaks. Check your radiator (around the cap too), hoses, welsh plugs, heater hoses, thermostat housing and water pump.

Get a hold of a pressure tester if you can.

    Still nothing?

Start her up with the radiator cap off but full of cooling system full. Constantly bubbling? Do a compression test to check for BHG. It would have been blowing white smoke and running grumpily beforehand though.

You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?
