Just for the brakes? That would be overkill, It's got two massive door vents on each side, then those two big rear quarter vents as well as all the ducting on the rear, in comparison to the front, there would be serious lack of ducting for the front brakes.

When a car brakes all the weight is transferred to the front. so the front brakes take a much greater load then the rear ones. So if all that ducting was just for the rear brakes, your front brakes would fade and your rear brakes would lock up all the time, causing a horrible balance you see.

What I was getting at was, why does this car appear to have all the ducting for a mid engine car, the weight balance of a mid engined car, yet the drawings show the engine at the front? Doesn't add up to me.

You will find that the vents are there for, the dry sump, and possibly the cooling system. I'm pretty sure toyota know what they are doing when building a car.

I wasn't trying to discredit Toyota, just simply trying to advance my knowledge by asking the question.

My theory is, they've put the gearbox at the rear, and pushed the engine as far back as possible to give it the rear bias weight balance, and those vents would be for the brakes, and radiators for the diff/gearbox. and now, dry sump.

Dont worry dude, just being sarcastic.

You are most likely right, about the placing of the gearbox.

Toyota said they'd beat the gt-r.

The motor seems a fair work of art. And there's no doubt surronding its release... Motor Magazine was fanging one around in the other month's issue. Holds little relevence to the punters on this forum of course. Other than the fact toyota will have a new hero car for those who come across a starry-eyed GTR fan down at the pub.

<back to tallying this months wages for my next purchase of another 25 year old 'yota>

    LF-A lapped it in 7:24
GTR V-Spec lapped it in 7:25

    LFA price - $375,000US +
    GTR V-spec price - $170,000US

I could buy 2 GTR V-spec's - one for you and one for me for the price of one LF-A.
The motor looks like a work of art, as is to be expected from Yamaha, and the Dry sump/block is hand made in toyota's F1 factory. Pretty epic

As for the looks? It looks like an unfinished concept, something about the lines around the front lights and the sides really bugs me, though I guess the design is what is to be expected from present day Toyota (little to no design flair).
