Default My 4age Definetly Needs Backpressure I Think, started it up and went like a doggg

    hey pplz
    just completed my 4ac to 4age 100kw 16v conversion .
i got a set of extractors 4-2-1 that end up siting along side the end of the gearbox .
i took it for a drive , besides the extremly loud freaky noise it makes with no exhaust , the car absolutly went no were .
I'm guessing this is because my car needs the full exhaust system , and it doesnt have back pressure . i mean it was just loud for nothing , had no pull had really nothing more then the 4ac motor i had in
    there b4 .
i no the motor isnt anything fasttttt but some1 please tell me its only exhaust i have to do 2 get the power from this thing

also if some1 can tell me the best size combination for this setup would be , im guessing 2and a quater with a 3inch cannon at the end 2 quit the thing down a little bit and give her a more crispy note

2.25 all the way through. have a look through the members rides threads and see what people are running in there.

but yes. you will need an exhaust if you want your car to run any good.

If you have just dropped the engine in, I'd be looking for other problems before assuming it's the exhaust. Could be ignition timing, cam timing, running rich because of dodgy sensors, etc, etc, etc.

An open exhaust shouldn't kill all your power.

    hmm
well it idles very smooth and doesnt blow any smoke when driving to show its running rich , i might have 2 check ignition timing and cam timing though .
ive been lookin threw peoples rides , and the most common seems 2 be between 2 and a quater and 2 and a half as a maximum .

my question again , these motors do require backpressure though 2 run decently?

^^ Top fuellers? Racecars with sidepipes?

I still don't think that the lack of an exhaust is the cause of your power problem. Sure it'd be nice (so you can drive without deafening the neighbourhood) but think your underlying problem will be something else.

My race car (4ag) runs perfectly like this:

You are barking up the wrong tree if you think an exhaust will solve all your problems.

exhaust wont make one extra hp - just make the car quieter/slower. The extractors do all the work. ie as above - race cars just redirect flow
