    Default ECU Loom Question (w/pics)

    Car - ae71

    motor - 4ac

    use - daily/streeter

    problem -

    occurs/started when -

    personal situation -

    Hey guys,

just a quick question, when i got a new 4ac for my car i got a loom out of a ae86 aswell i got it for free so threw it in the shed. looking at it the other day i saw it has 2 wide plugs at the of it, witch looks like it plugs into a ecu. but i'm not sure. there's been some wires added and soldering and fresh tape on it. so are these ecu plugs? and will it fit into a ae71? cheers, Ben. btw it's to run a 16v 4age.

    They are not ecu plugs.
I am going on a whim and suggest they plug into the instrument cluster.
I think on that blue plug I can see a red wire with blue trace, if that is correct and in position 14 on the plug, it would be fed 12v from the 7.5a gauge fuse, also if there is a brown wire at position 3 on the same plug.

    What are the wire colours?
The little plug with red wire with white stripe I would say is either power feed into the stop light switch, or from the door opening circuit. On the same plug is an earth (White with black stripe)

Get yourself a copy of the electrical wiring diagram, parrot has posted links to it, a roll of masking tape, a pen, multi-meter with continuity and a 6-pack. It doesn't take too long, but you should trace everything out while you can spread it all over the floor.

The engine loom will have two square-ish yellow plugs on it, and that loom that you've pictured will probably have the other one. I'm guessing that one you've got there runs from the drivers footwell, under the dash, and into the passenger footwell, connections junction boxes 1, 3, & 4.
