hey guys,
does anyone know if a K gearbox and a T series diff combo will work without a custom tailshaft?
i am asking this because i have got a destroyed borgy diff in my 4k ke70
and don't what to spend more cash on it (noshit)
i am planing to go 4age next year anyway so should I wait and do it all at once.
any constructive advice and help is appreciated
thx man Josh![]()
I havn't checked all the lengths to be certain, but I think a early TE72 (T-18 SE) driveshaft would fit. I know the splines are right for the gearbox.
Custom tailshaft or bust man.
You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?
I find this very interesting, gearbox length and mounting position relative to the diff will be the deciding factor if so.

The T40/T50 and K40/K50 gearboxs had the same output shaft splines, up untill the middle of the TE72 run. Late TE72 and all AE86 have a larger spline.
The T50 is also the same length as a K40 gearbox (from a KE30).
As far as i'm aware, the splines went as such:
TA2x Celica and S1 TE72 had the same spline (or S2, can't remember)
AE7x, AE86 and TE72 (whichever one i didn't say earlier) had the same spline
Also the extension housings changed on the K box on the KE70, they are longer.

t18 diff (at least series 1 ie no swaybar) definately fits ke70 4k k50 box with t18 tailshaft - i used that combo before changing 4age then changed the front half of tailshaft to an ae86 front half.
Interesting.

thanks for the advice guys.
what do they use instead of a swaybar?
