is it just car your thinking of?
I'm looking for third party property, fire & theft insurance on my '74 celica and was wondering who the best people are to do it with. The problem is that it's old, "modified" (steering wheel & mags) and I'm 23.
I'm sure there's an insurance company like Shannons that's aimed at young drivers and costs similar to other places but I can't remember what it's called.
I can get insurance with other companies but they don't want to know about modifications and they'll only insure my car for $2000 if it's killed.
At the moment AAMI looks like my best option but only getting $2000 would be sad. Does anyone have any better suggestions?

im with RACQ...haven't really looked around much though.
I had my stanza covered third party fire and theft for about 2 or 3 hundred a year i think..i told them it was not modified..which would make it interesting in the right sorta accident but i was cool with the risk...apparently if the cause of the accident was not related to the modifications they will in most circumstances cover you...that was according to my sister who worked for a corporate insurance company..but don't make a decision on that basis..i was more worried about the fire and theft..
I now have my cressida covered to..so thats all legit...was like $270 all up i think...and im 19..

Yeah just my car. I have nothing else worth insuring.
I think I tried RACQ and it's the same thing but they don't want mods and will only give me $2000 or so for the car, which means if someone writes off my car and the other person is covered I'll probably only get $2000.
I'm sure there's someone who has the same deal but they dont mind modifications and will insure for an agreed value.
RAA, allianz. hands down the best, by far for any insurance.
oh to add
STAY AWAY FROM AMMI, SGIC, CGU AND ALL SISTER COMPANYS OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if u want cheap full comp. get it insured in ya parents name. that's what i do and its $320 a year through RAA.
if u want a good return, if u wright it off. look at getting an agreed value. price will most likely go up a bit more tho.

I'll talk to RACQ then I guess.
+1!!! Also if you're car is mint or modified/engineered Shannons for full comp (if you can afford it)

STAY AWAY from Shannons, when you do have to claim, you'll regret it! They have no problem taking your money, but big problem doing the job properly, if you have full comp with them, be prepared to be out of pocket to get the car back to how it was before the accident, they will completely cut back the quote to the bare minimum they can get away with without actually fixing it properly. I could go on but they can get f*cked!
Speaking from experience frak?
MOPAR or no car!
