problem -stupidity. just wandering what sort of temps an oil cooler braided line gets? i have used bits of conduit i had lying around to buffer the hoses from rubbing everything away. thought i was being really clever but its just occoured to me that the conduit is likely to melt???

pvc melts at like 65 degrees unless its high temp stuff, just get some of that silver alfoil type heat wrap. I wouldnt worry too much just route it in a manner that its as far as possible.

what and where exactly do you mean? against the radiator wall?

I expect oil temp to be similar to water temp, which in theory would be about 82 degrees, but often up around 100 degrees.

Just see how long the plastic lasts, then use a rubber hose over your existing hose.

only that i have been warned and read it a few times, that braided stainles line will rub through ANYTHING it is in direct contact with. so where ever it comes close to stuff i have put a seperatot in... the conduit stuff.

mate uses the 3M aluminum tape and heat wrap together. said it works a treat.
im about to do the same to my lines.

I've always just wrapped a bit of radiator hose or thickish plastic hose around braided lines I was woried about. No melting issues so far.
