    Default 4age starting issue

    Car - ke70 4age conversion

    motor - bigport 4age

    use - weekender, hills runs

problem - wont always start just clicks

occurs/started when - i got the car a few months ago and is geting progressivly worse

personal situation - want it fixed coz i wana fucking drive it

when i bought the car it already had the problem and its just slowly getting worse, when u turn the key it just makes a click noise and the fuel pump starts up but starter motor wont kick over, sometimes it will start first try and other times it can take up to 30 turns, it seams to get worse when the engine is warm aswell, its been to a mechanic who changed the starter and it did the exact same thing unless the starter motor it was swaped with is also stuffed im out of ideas, is there any other things to look for? has anyone had a similar problem?

any help would be appreciated cheers

If it gets worse as the engine gets warmer then it would most likely be the starter motor overheating. There should be a heat-shield between the starter and the exhaust manifold to stop it from getting too hot, is there one there?

its the starter solenoid. dodgy connection in your starter circuit causing a voltage drop.

you need to put a relay in the circuit, use the original starter solenoid trigger wire (on the startermotor itself) as the trigger for the new relay, and switch it straight to the battery.

Is your battery holding a charge? Maybe there is a problem with alternator? Just search the forum and google to see if you can dig up some ideas. Good luck with it though.

edit: fkn super same time replies!

I've been having the same problem, only after I had been driving it for a while, then trying to turn it back on, would just click over. My relay cable from the battery to the starter motor was cooked, new one is like $25. I replaced my battery terminals aswell just to be safe. Had no problems since.
