I will drop another bombshell. Driving a car, (or race car), is not very hard, as far as sports go. It would only take about 5 laps of a track in a new supercar, to get a feeling for traction levels etc, to then go and do a fairly good time.

And if the presenters put them in the weeds ( and trucks through walls), surely the budjet can cater for the Stig to get some practice. In which case, any thoughtful person could do it.

I would have to disagree with you there a little Jonny.
Most people stuggle to drive at the speed limit.
It takes balls to drive fast and confidence to push a car to its limit, and skill not to go beyond.
Some of the smartest people have no understanding of how a car works and what they can do.
Thats my opinion any way.

After seeing him drive the caterham rs500 later in season 12. he can stay as long as he wants, even if I know who it is (thought he was damon hill as well, although I couldnt see Damon in the comedy aspects, no matter how scripted).
