Default Bad Brakes, pedal to the floor....and then car slows down

    Car - 1985 Levin

    motor - 4age

    use - driving

    problem - Brakes fail

occurs/started when - i put my foot on the brake

personal situation - kinda need to stop

Ok, have bled all 4 corners, have replaced new pads on the front.

I recently installed a t series with a kaaz 2 way lsd. Before then my brakes were half decent and now they are like death... So when the car is not going i pump it once and then they go really hard, but as soon as i start the engine, i can put my foot down to the floor. I think it could be the brake booster but not too sure. after i pump it a few times while idling the brakes are stiff and when i bleed them they are like rock.. have also bedded them in

So yeah, Also considering replacing the front discs from the solid that is the standard for RDA cross drilled and slotted/dimpled or w/e i know replacing the front wont stop the brake pedal going down to the ground but yeah.. not sure

i had the same thing BUT it was on a ford corsair.
turned out that one of the wheel bearings was loose and the wheel had play thus the disk having play and the pads not braking properly onto the disks and losing pedal feel in the same circumstances as you described.

so i just tightened up the bearings and the associated bolts and problem was solved.

i too thought my booster was fucked or that my lines had air but ended up being the loose nut.

    check it out.

    you never know

any sign of leaking brake fluid around the rear drums or where the rear brake line meets the brake lines on the diff?
Other than that maybe a stuff seal in the master cylinder which can hold the pressure you can exert without the booster but not the added force from the booster?
I think you should see whether your loosing fluid and maybe try the brakes with the engine running but the vacuum hose to the booster disconnected.

stuffed booster wont have anything to do with that problem, neither will the discs - especially if they worked before you put new pads in. make sure theres always fluid in the master cyl resovoir when youre doing the bleeding - any bit of air in the system youll have to do it all over...
but most likely its the master cylinder o-ring which has probably come off/broken possibly from pushing the pedal too far when doing the bleeding - try a different master - check for fluid leaks at the mating face of the master and booster.
If the problem has to do with the rear brakes, the car will still stop ok just requiring more pedal as the master has 2 systems, one for front, one for back, and you say the car hardly stops, so most likely the master

I think hachi dk is spot on the money, take your wheels off and check the hub nut as I had same problem.
