Default AE86 struts Into KE70 conversion woes. Help!

There is loads of information about the conversion floating around, but i couldn't find anything on my specific problem.. I'm sure there are a million people who can help solve the problem..

Ive put AE86 Struts, Steering arms and LCA's into my KE70... But now BOTH my wheels stick outwards like so: \---------------/.

I adjusted the tie rods as far as they would go. it helped alot, but still hasn't erased the problem.. I also adjusted castor arms as much as i could, to no avail either.

I suppose my question is, Are AE86 and KE70 rack ends the same length? or are 86 ones longer? I assumed they were the same length...

Am i missing something obvious? Any thoughts?

    Cheers, Pete.

when i did this in my ae71 i used ae86 power steering arms and corona xt130 control arms with the standard rack end.
It might just be because i used the ps arm but my rackends had plenty left on them!

In your case i have heard that RA40 celica rackends (or tie rod ends which is what i have always heard them called) are longer which should help!

    Hiyo.

The AE86 and KE70 / AE71 rack ends are the same.

You may have XT130 control arms or Sigma control arms (?!?!) under the impression they are standard. Get the tape measure out and check!

Also KE 70's suggestion of having the steering arms on backward is viable.

If all else fails, go to the picky wreckers and grab yourself a pair of RA40 Tie-rod tubes and get some new tie-rod ends for them and go from there.
You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?

Thanks for the information guys! Helps alot..

Javal: I do have 86 LCA's in there, they are the exact same length as my KE70 ones. That was my initial thought, that they could have been too long.

Im gathering from the information that all the parts I have, should bolt in without any considerable drama. The fault must be mine, in the assembly. I guess ill go back and have a look tomorrow with a clear head and some more motivation.

    Cheers guys.

EDIT: Just had a look. Ive put the steering arms the wrong way. Its so obvious. Ignorance is bliss. Silly mistake, but we live and learn. Cheers.

yeah it sounds silly, but before i start a job i take a photo and depending on the job i often label parts left or right or make marks that only line up with the right combination.

It sounds silly but with a big job you have 101 things on your mind and sometimes you might not notice something or you just aren't 100% sure its right and with marks or photos it just gives you that bit more confidence you've got it right!
