blocked rad, did you flush it good and proper
Okay so I'm having cooling issues with a 4AC AE82 I have. A few weeks ago it got really hot and caused a heater hose to split. I assumed it had gotten hot because of this leak, so I replaced the hose. But the car still got far past operating temp when driven. I have checked for other leaks, replaced the thermostat, replaced the radiator cap, and re bled the cooling system with brand new coolant. None of this have fixed the problem. The only other thing I can think of would be the head gasket, but there is no coolant in the oil, and if coolant was leaking into one of the cylinders, wouldn't the coolant level get lower? Because the level never drops even by a tiny bit. Does anyone else have any idea's or diagnostic tests I can do to sort this. It's pissing me off! Thanks in advance.

when I replaced the thermostat I removed both hoses and stuck hose in the top hose and water flowed freely out the bottom one. The water was dirty, but there didnt seem to be and buildup or solids in it...
also, the thermo fan is running off constant power, so that should provide enough fan cooling yeah? having said that though, the car doesnt overheat if it is able to continue moving at around 70 - 80kmph with out stop starting
still could have a blocked radiator. take off the cap and look inside. see how much crap is stuck in the channels. if they all clear should be ok, but being old id say its full of crap
fixed it. thanks guys
and what was it

only the low speed thermo was coming on and not the high speed. turned out the motor had burnt out. replaced it and it solved the problem.![]()
