same crank, there is only early and late cranks. What do you want to use the engine for and which 4age do you have? By the way stock rods and cranks are forged.
doing a fresh rebuild on my 4age,
got prices for parts possibly going to go spool h beam rods and cp pistons or acl pistons
any one used these before? any feed back would be much appreciated.
any other brands please share.
cheers matt
also how strong is a small port crank? vs 4agze crank?
*note* have both motors gze and small port, gze in 86 now wanting to build forged small port motor and swap bottom ends over at the end of the year.

Unless it's an MR2 early-model GZE, which are the shitty, smaller-journal crank just like bigports
thanks sam only reason im building the small port is i just did a standed build on the gze witch is in my 86 atm witch is my daily witch is al good but wanting to build somthing strongs as so going all out and at the end of the year will pretty much just drop it in and later on down the track i will take it of the road and have it as a track car (drift)
oh and i have a 7 rib small port dont no year
and a 7 rib gze dont no year either

only revs kills 4a rods and cranks. So if your doing it for boost then stock is great
i'd recommend Arias pistons from the US get them through paradise racing for I think under $500. I'm running them in my NA 4age with standard smallport rods just replaced he standard bolts with ARP rod bolts, also running smallport crank as the pistons I bought use a 20mm wrist pin
what will it have? turbo? supercharger? atmo?
thanks fellas for the info,
sam q built the gze with a turbo setup for my daily very happy with it and would do it again any day.
the new motor will also be turbo
only reason im going no gen pistons and rods is there quite cheap and readly avalible plus the added bonus of optimum strength.
for acl forgys and spool rods with chrome rings for 1100 thats hard to pass up.
anyone on here will say that the 4agze is definitly bang for your buck one of the most over engineered motors ive seen bloody love toyotas.
but in saying that just want the peace of mind with the after market forged products if u can get wat i mean![]()

Well the stock rods are good enough for any boost level and up to 8500 and I have yet to hear of a failure on a 4agze piston due to boost without detonation. So you can have peice of mind with the stock components just fine. The ACL branded pistons are nice in construction and weight but the compression ratio is very low, don't beleive the quoted figures I have proven them wrong
