hahaa cheers man, i should really have done some more reading prior to dumping in the engine.. ive realised now that 1. the tailshaft i have doesnt fit (from the conversion car), 2. i should have drilled out the holes for the clutch master cylinder, 3. should have checked if the gearbox crossmember fits up correctly.. and also needa fit my surge tank.
so yeah i now need an ae71 tailshaft, drill some holes, and figure out what to do with the gearbox crossmember.. do i have to make a bracket or can i just redrill some new holes? any help would be greatly appreciated!

all complete =) just getting nath from "TTG" to give my wiring a makeover as its currently disgusting! but either way, its all good, got my 2"1/4 exhaust made up today and put on. super happy with the sound! the only issue i have now is the extra injectors not firing for the high rpm range.. any ideas?
here are some pics.
feel free to criticize ahahh

Top work mate! Coming along very nicely!
its been ages since ive updated this!
in my quest for speed, i've since purchased a CA18det from a friend that came with everything.. including 2 gearboxes (1 r31 manual box + 1 CA18 box) plus engine loom, clutch, ecu, coilpacks etc..
after buying all this, i then took the corolla down to "robs automotive" off lewis rd, wantirna. where we pulled the 4age out!
was soo much easier than putting it in! took us about 2 hours to have the 4age out and everything that goes with it (4age conversion for sale!!!)
anyway we cut the flat face of the existing engine mount brackets out and after some cutting, testing and fitting, we welded in deeper + thicker mount brackets. super happy with the result, got the engine high enough that the sump doesnt sit low and it was low enough to shut the bonnet. also their is about 4cm clearance between the engine and firewall. everything lined up perfect.
as for the gearboxes, some of you might no that the r31 box is a fair bit shorter than the ca box, and that the bellhousing on the ca is shorter than the r31!. so we went for the shortest options and bolted the r31box to the ca bellhousing. compared to the standard T50 box, its maybe 5cm longer so only had to cut the trans tunnel slightly to accommodate it. after that i hooked up the clutch and gearbox to the engine and went on to dump it all in!
everything went in perfect on the first shot. couldn't be more happier with the fitment!
anyway, heres some photos of how it looks now..

4age. someone buy it!!!!!
cheers.

thats brilliant mate. those engine mounts look very simple? how did you make them?
you are going to love the ca18, just dont rev it to high as they dont have a rev limiter from factory.
if your gonna drift it i suggest getting an aftermarket limiter. my mate had a ca in his 86 a few yrs ago, it was phenominally fast, but we spun the bearings with over reving it drifting.

how much for the 4age?
ke70dave- yeah the engine mounts are incredibly simple! we just cut out the front of the existing (AE71) mounts and welded in a new face thats a bit thicker and has a deeper cut in it so we could lower the engine a bit! and yeah we just used ca/sr engine mounts n bolted it straight in!
E7 PIG- im after around 1500 for the 4age, t50 box, loom, ecu, tailshaft, extractors, and full exhaust(over diff). doesn't come with the pedal box or engine crossmember as i used them both on my car! but yeah its under what i paid for everything but as i have the ca in now.. i just dont need it! ill just keep it until i can find a buyer for the right price!
