1970 Volkswagen Type 3 Fastback TLE
Very rare EFI model
Mechanical:
Engine runs fantastic, still runs the original EFI 1600 which is very rare these days. The engine was rebuild in 2003 and has done approx 30,000miles since that time. Runs strong with a 4speed behind her. 4 Speed also in good condition.
Body and Paint:
Original paint and body, minor dents here and there, next to no rust anywhere, only rust is very small bubbles behind drivers side rear guard. Paint is in good condition for age although has minor cracking on drivers side. The current bumpers will be changed before the sale also, will come with mint condition standard bumpers. Structurally next to flawless.
Wheels and Suspension:
Pictured is my 14” wheels however the car will be sold with standard 15” rims with 3” whitewalls and good tires, which look fantastic. Suspension has been dropped 1 spine on rear and 3 on front. It’s quite low but still drives very well, not overly harsh. Alignment is good.
Interior:
Interior is very much original. Trims is quite good and seats are very nice for age, the drivers seat however has a couple rips but still looks respectable. The original dash pad has some cracks through it, mostly small, I ran the car without the pad and it looks great. New parcel shelf installed as well. Original carpet is ok but has a couple small tears.
Overall one of the tidiest and rarest type 3’s getting around. Always attracts an amazing amount of attention and even won Best Modified Type 3 in day of the VW 2010. Very easy restoration for someone or jump in and drive for years as is. This car is what you see is what you get its original so there is no hidden surprises.
Only reason for sale is that I have picked up another fasty I would like to restore, so I’m in no rush to sell this one.

Ive never daily'd it before but it would actually do ok. Very reasonable fuel ecconemy! Much better than my 929, RA23, even my KE20.
Looks so much better in the flesh too, which is saying alot.

It does, its such a cool looking car. Once ive changed the bumpers i will be taking some better pictures to help with the sale, pictures of every aspect of the car.

Finally! Heres the updated pictures of changes.
Bumpers have changed.
Wheels have changed.
Its now running 3" flappers rear and 2.5" flappers on front but can be changed to equal size if the new buyer prefers, but im liking the larger ones on the rear!
Ive painted the wheels so they next to new, yes they are grey! Im loving the contrast between the white and grey but could always be changed.
Other thing is I've just had her tuned so its running very well.
The car is now basically original!
New pics also show imperfections in paint too, minor cracking here and there.
