    Default heavy steering

for some reason my steering got alot heavier. its weird it not constant but around every 1/8th of a rotation of the steering wheel and then it gets really heavy then goes back to normal and its only heavier for about 2cm of turning after that then it goes back to normal until you get to another 1/8th of a rotation. its still the same when i jack the car up but lighter in general as it usaully is because the tyres are off the ground. and had a look and nothin seems to be rubbing on the steering column or rack.

any one get an susgestions or have had a simular thing?

Has it got a P/S rack or a manual rack?

Check the universal joint between the column and pinion. Two of the bearings are probably stiff or seized and the other two free causing the stifness then free turning.

Tell us everything you have done to the car.

It is likely that the uni joint from the colum to the rack, is up-side-down. It makes a difference because one side is longer than the other.

Is your crossmember modifyed or in the standard location?
