t18 crosmembers

Car - ke70

motor - rite now 4kc but im thinking about going 3tc, 4age small port or 18rg

use - drift and some street driving

problem - wanting to know stuff

occurs/started when - i got the car haha

personal situation -please help

1: will a t18 g-box crosmember fit a ke70 for a 4age conversion?

2: will a t18 g-box crosmember and engine crosmember fit a ke70 for a 3tc conversion

3: will a ra6X g-box crosmember and engine crosmember fit a ke70 with a few extra holes drilled fit a ke70 for a 18rg conversion

1 - Crossmember yes.

2 - Crossmember Yes

3- Unsure, but likely with some extra holes / filing. Although putting an 18R-G in a KE70 is silly unless you already have one.

I mounted a 2tg in my old ae71. I hung the motor and box in off a engine crane and used the standard ae71 gearbox crossmember which bolted straight up to the celica type t50 that was behind the motor then made some simple engine mounts using a couple of nissan patrol panard rod bushes, pipe and flat bar. with the engine/box fitted like this I used a 2 peice tailshaft from a 5speed 4kc ke70 which bolted up sweet as the older t50 output shaft spline is the same as the k50 and the length was just right. I'm not 100% sure but i think the 3t/18rg dimensions are the same as 2t so this setup may work for you.Attachment 9898

well i have access to all 4 engines so its just a matter of making my fucking mind up
i kinda really dont want to do a 4age 16v just becuase its been done the shit out of witch is kinda good but not for me
yeah some say i like to make it hard for myself

although everyone does 16v's the conversion is popular because there a good engine and easy conversion
3tc's are a pretty lame engine unless you open them up and upgrade stuff as blair said
i dont know much abotu 18rg's but i would think they put out similar power to a 16v.

The figures are indeed close:

18R-G 82–108 kw at 6400 rpm 177 Nm at 5200 rpm 1973–1981 (88210 motors)
18R-GR 104 kw at 6400 rpm 169 Nm at 4800 rpm 1973–1975 low compression for regular fuel (8823x motors)
18R-GU 97 kw at 6000 rpm 162 Nm at 4800 rpm 1975–1978 emissions control - Japan. (8825x motors)
18R-GEU 101 kw at 5800 rpm 172 Nm at 4400 rpm 1978–1982 EFI, emissions control (Japan) (8827x motors)

I would still go Smallport over 18R-G in an xE7x, there's just too many things that make the 18R-G conversion a headfuck (hard to get parts for, more difficult to fit, weight / size, the fact i have one and you can't possibly handle being this awesome , only the early models are good, expensive initial purchase price most of the time)

18R-G will be a decent powerplant if you have the early 88210 model with the nice high-comp pistons and aggressive cams, the later ones are a bit so-so without work. Keep in mind they're a BIG motor compared to the 4AG and weigh alot, your car will be a marked amount more nose-heavy.

As typical as a 4AG is, they're an ideal motor for the E7 chassis.

3TC is pretty poey without work.
