get longer lca's or cut a bit off the threaded end of your rack end
Hey Guys,
This is my first post and i know theres lots of knowledge on this site.
Car - ae86
motor - 4age 20v
use - street
problem - I cant get correct wheel alignment need shorter tie rod ends/ rack ends. What aftermarket parts will fix this problem ? As the parts i seen seem to be longer than standard issue items.
occurs/started when - I got a AJPS extra lock spacer installed and PS arms using a standard ae86 rack.
personal situation - umm like to know a solution please.

you will need lower control arms from an xt130 corona these are aprox 10mm longer giving you that little bit extra thread you need.
you can chop off the end of your rack end (threaded bit) to give you that little bit extra adjustment. i think ajps advises about 8mm chopped off each side
i would just put the arms in anyway as there pretty cheap and fairly easy to sorce
i wouldnt say he NEEDs to get xt130 control arms.
but like you say cutting the thread is a good idea.
what you want to do though is get a nut and screw it onto the thread before you cut it, then cut off how much you want, give it a quick file and then wind the nut off. that way you can clean up the thread as you wind the nut off. might even pay to put a bit of cutting compound onto the end of the thread (the bit you have cut)
if you dont do this you will have next to no chance of getting the tie rod end back on after you cut the thread.
these lock spacer things must be pretty chunky if you have to start cutting the rack end to make them fit!
