just turned into a qualified mechanic what is the minium wage please help

hey guys i just qualified for a light vehicle mechanic. my boss gave me pay rise of 60 extra bucks wtf man im just under 600 this cant be right. anyone no exactly what the award wage is

Isn't 4th year meant to get 90% of full adult wage? If so, a $60 raise to nearly $600 sounds pretty close sorry to say

Im about to leave the industry all together cause the $$$ is so so stupidly low for the skills and work we do

you will probably be on 3 month probation, just like any new tradesman would be if they just started work there. as they use that 3 month to work out your worth as a tradesman. but mechanics do get fucking arse raped with wages.

as a painter i was on $7.30-8.30-12.50-14.50hr then 19.80 for first 3months then i went up again.

i know countless mechanic that have left due to shit wages. you get more selling clothes and you dont even need a brain.

shit man this is shit. ive been with him for 2 years i finished my apprentaship at the place i virtually do all the big hard shit because the rest of em are gas fitters man this trade is fuked up so much skill and effort for gay wage. a manager at maccas gets more.

Award wage is around the $16.60 mark apparently. I did my full apprenticeship and an extra 14 months at a Mercedes dealership. i consistently hit targets, had no come-backs or fuck-ups and was the hardest working prick there. i got $20.25 an hour the day i re-signed as a fully-qualified, no probation period either. They wouldnt give me a pay rise the couple of times i asked so i left and have left the trade. Im back at uni doing engineering now. 30+ contact hours a week

my friends dad was on like 50k a year as a diesel mechanic in smelburn... then he moved to mackay and hes on OVER double that figure...

Dude, i dont mean to be rude, but join the fucking club. Do your best in every job, keep your ears open and give it a few years. My boss is on $40/h and the cunt is a year older than I am. But, going of his example, He is worth it. There is no way you can refute someone who knows what they are doing.

If you think your worth more, let the boss know. Otherwise hit some mines up for a job.
